Is anyone doing a cycle of IVF next month for the first time? I'm forty and have a daughter of six and have been ttc for four years and we finally start our first cycle in a week when I start down regulating. Seems weird and clinical, but clinic is really nice and this is our last shot. I'm so lucky to have one already - feel a bit greedy really, but sure would like just one more baby... Anyone else want to grumble through the next couple of months?

hi whats cooking, hope your still there, its been a while since you started this thread.

I have just started a thread - 'starting ivf today and I'm worried'.

I have a six year old too and have been ttc for 4 years. been having fertility treatment for just over a year and this is my first course of ivf. Just waiting for my call so can take my first jab of buserelin (am doing the short two week treatment). The amount of drugs you have to put in you is very scary for me as I won't even take anything for a headache..bit of a drug phobe.

I also don't feel very optimistic as there are factors that go against me...my age (38), my fsh levels (12.2 last time, need to be less than 12 to go ahead with ivf). Also, we probably only have one go at this and chances of it happening first time at my age are slim.

I have been having second thoughts this morning but I think like someone has already says its last minute nerves and the thought of spending all that money....£3K at my clinic, thats including the drugs.

will keep posting as I progress with the treatment

Hi

I've started my IVF superovulation protocol. I'm taking my oral contraceptive pills and have started my buserelin. As yet I have had no side effects. Will start FSH injection 300 units (gonal-F) on the 30th of August. Depending on number of follicles will be either doing IUI/IVF. I really want to do IUI as I think I'll be wasting money doing IVF as the success rate is around 5%. I'm 43 so having a donor egg is the best route and think I should be saving money for that. Dizzy36 I understand your misgivings but I'll be keeping everything crossed that it works out.
