Hi,
I've been ttc no2 whilst bf no1 for about a year now with no luck. AF returned when ds was just 1 and he's now 2.2. Irregular and scanty at first and many of those months my LP has been 10 or less which is most likely due the bf. In desperation I've weaned across the day last month. So am now having 12-13 hr break daily but still co sleep and feed at night which is what really buggers the hormones up!
This cycle though, Im on day 12 after ov and no sign of AF yet, did a test this am and negative so sure AF will show tmrw. Gutted yet again but pleased the weaning has lengthened my LP to a pretty normal 13 days. Guess I will have to tackle the night feeds next!
Anyway, the long and short of it is that loads of people catch whilst bf but some really struggle. I used to lurk on the ttc whilst bf thread but everyone got pregnant bar me and it was getting disheartening. When I compare my scenario with all those who have got pregnant whilst bf, I think the difference is that I've practised ecological bf (google it, very interesting) which naturally spaces children at 2-3 years, whereas the others had night weaned or similar.
I think everyone is different but frustratingly for me, I'm one of the ones who struggle. If I had any advice is tell you to night wean!

Thanks Jakey - I will have to look that up. I'm aiming to BF until 6 months and because I had CS no 2 in May I should probably wait till April to get pregnant. But then I'm 43 now and may not be fertile then...

Ooh Jakey I have been doing ecological breastfeeding WITHOUT EVEN REALISING! Just thought it was called having a very demanding and boob monster DD. Thanks for the tip, I will proceed with my night weaning attempts.

Good luck to you both and hope your DC have siblings soon. Smile

I didn't realise I was doing it either gunpowder. Wasnt until I googled infertility and bf that I can across it and it explained a few things!
Anyway, I think the day weaning and subsequent 12 hr break has helped my cycle. Day 14 tmrw past ovulation and no AF. Did test on 12 days and neg so am pretty sure AF will have to appear tmrw. Either way, I haven't had a 14 day LP since before I got pregnant so am hopeful things are moving in the right direction!

Ha! and to think my GP told me I was dicing with pregnancy at my six week check and I should have a coil. The coil clearly has nothing on a high needs baby! Wink

How exciting for you though. Fingers crossed for your next cycle. I bet it won't be long Smile
