Conception

Digital Dilemma.....

I should be 6 weeks PG, did a test a week ago, conception indicator told me that it was 3+ wks from conception Grin did another one at the weekend, just to be sure as my sore boobs were no longer sore and I'm not feeling AT ALL pregnant. The conception indicator came up as saying that it was 2-3 weeks since conception.....not what I was expecting Sad Has this ever happened any of you? Was speaking to someone at the EPC and they say it's too early to scan, it would only have to be repeated anyway and I have to go on Monday morning as I will be almost 7 weeks without a period and things will be easier to measure. I have just spent 2 days crying, trying to keep busy, busy with my other 2 DCs to stop me thinking about things too much.

How worrying for you. It does sound like your pregnancy hormone levels are dropping rather than rising. Step away from the preg tests for now and try not to worry too much until you know more on Monday.

Disclaimer - I have no idea how those digital tests work or how accurate they are.

That's what I've been thinking Sad

Try not to worry. At least you have a scan booked and hopefully will have an answer soon.

I know, I was thinking of trying to get a private one done sooner as I'm feeling so impatient but thinking they'll just tell me to wait till after 7 weeks. Has an early one done before at 7 weeks and it could be seen abdominally but not sure....going out of my mind, have cried all day Sad

If you have it done too early and the scan is inconclusive they will just send you away for ten days or so which is just awful.

I have been in your situation and it sucks. The waiting is the worst bit.

Hope it works out for you.

Oh God you're right I know.....I just hate not knowing, trying to keep busy, gathering up the other two to get out to the park...how did things turn out for you?

Did you use both tests with fmu as it does say in the instructions that its only reliable if you do?

Well I had one ectopic, one missed miscarriage then two healthy pregnancies all within two years! The finer points are a distant memory now but I do remember that awful panicked worry that is always there whilst waiting.

Remember I know nothing about these new fangled digital tests so you might want to listen to someone who does.

Thinking of you though.

kittykatsforever is that first morning urine? I didn't do that second time round......hoping that explains the discrepancies...SunnyRandall poor you, that's a lot of stress to go through...am delighted you had two good pregnancies afterwards though xx

Yes first morning urine, it does say for the indicator part to be acurate you must use that so fx that's what's caused your discrepancy, you could try it again first thing tomorrow but I wouldn't bother paying for a private scan as the only thing they can do is then refer you back to epu, if you are finding it too stressful though I'd ring back and see if they can move it forward abit, you should be able to see from 6 wks

Once the hcg levels get past a certain point it addles the brains of the digital tests and they stop working. It may be that now your levels are too high for the test. It will still show pregnant but won't be able to accurately tell how far along.

No no don't worry! I've read the conception indicator on cb is not all that accurate so don't panic! I googled as a few days after getting my 1-2 weeks it jumped up to 3+ weeks on the next one and there's lots of stories about hw the number of weeks jumps around. It can depend on time of day, how much you've drunk and all sorts so please don't use it as a reliable indicator on how pregnant you are.

Or what dancing throughthefire said must read whole thread

Please don't take anymore of these tests, the conception indicators can be wrong, especially the later you take the test.
My friend was 6 months pregnant with her first before she found out, and when she took a clear blue it said 2-3 weeks!!! The doctor soon told her otherwise!

Basically those things are shit, try not to worry and get a blood test from your doctor if you feel your symptoms are slipping, its probably nothing but it will set your mind to rest.

Congratulations on your pregnancy Thanks

Christ, if I'm not pregnant, I need a good talking to, I'm not normally a tearful person but I swear to God I'm totally flippin dehydrated today. Was ready to kill some woman in the park today who told me that a boy didn't push DS onto the ground when I bloody well SAW him. Thanks for all the info on the conception indicator....I'm so surprised that I'm actually PG that I keep peeing OAS to convince myself it's real, been TTC for 2 years. pumpkinsweetie thanks for the flowers....they made me cry......

How are you now OP? Good luck for the scan tomorrow, let us know how you get on.

Hi, had scan, looks like I'm only just less than 6 weeks along, I'm pretty confident of when I conceived so it looks like the 1st half of my cycle was 3 weeks long and my dates were out. This explains a lot I suppose regarding my symptoms and the conception indicator...has abdominal and trans-vaginal scan.....lovely. Am going back on Friday of next week to hopefully see a bit more. Pregnancy sac and yolk sac were seen, no HB yet. There was some bright 'halo' like circle around the pregnancy sac which apparently is a good sigh Grin Grin I'm feeling slightly more positive this week as my symptoms are much more evident! Boke.....
