Recently got married and decided to try for a baby :-) Exciting times!
I stopped taking the pill (yasmin) on December 21st 2012 after being on it for 10 years. I had the standard "pill period" which started on 25th December and ended on 29th December.
Me and my husband had sex on 2nd Jan and again on 4th Jan. No sex again for a few weeks as I was unwell for a while! Annoying. :-(
Anyway, I then came on a real period on 25th January which lasted until 29th January. Pretty amazed by that to be honest as a lot of people said (including my doctor) that when you come off the pill you may not have a period again for a long time etc etc...? so that's good. Although no telling yet whether it will carry on and actually stay regular! We'll see!
Sooo.... we had sex on Wed 6th January (Which is day 13 of this cycle I guess). I had bloating and cramps ALL day which I thought could maybe be a sign of ovulation...? . I dont really know how long my cycles truly are as I have been on the pill for so long. And my first true period was just a couple of weeks ago!
Today (Sunday 10th Feb) I am still very bloated and experiencing cramps. I'm wondering why I'm so bloated? Is this a sign of ovulation, implantation (?) or maybe just a side effect of coming off the pill? Or totally unrelated?
Whats the earliest I can do a pregnancy test? Has anyone ever come off the pill and become pregnant this quickly? We are trying to for a baby as of NOW really so it would be amazing if I was pregnant although I know it would also be quite a miracle considering we have only had sex a few times!!!
If my cycle is a normal 28 day cycle then I guess having sex on Wednesday (day 13) was a good time as I think thats around the time you're meant to be most fertile?
Can anyone offer some advice? What do you think? Any tips? (apart from have more sex! haha!)
Hmmm a bit... not much really.... but a bit! The cramps and bloating are just the worst though! I am SOOOO bloated. Havent eaten or drunk anything different that would be causing me to feel like this and NEVER really feel like this!!!! Also some lower back and lower abdominal pain.
Wasnt really doing calculations or thinking TOO much about trying to conceive but after we had sex on Wednesday I realised it was probably one of my most fertile days! Annoyingly we were staying with family from Thursday morning until today so didnt get a chance to have sex again during that window of time. But might get a chance to seduce him tonight... if hes lucky! Haha!
I guess my fertile "window" might be a little later/longer.... like I said, I dont REALLY know what my true cycles are like!
Wow If your this wound up on the first month of trying your in for a rough ride. You need to chill out and enjoy trying and stop reading in to every body feeling. Sure you could be pregnant but bloating, cramps, water retention are also signs of other things too. You can test with most tests the day your period is due. If your going to do that every month though, go to savers and get a pack of really cheap tests for £1. Exciting times
Haha your post made me laugh... I'm not really that wound up... just seriously in PAIN! So bloated and my tummy is really hurting ! :'( Wondering what it can be because I've never felt like this... ever!
Would be awesome if I was actually pregnant already but to be honest I just want to know WHY I feel like this at the moment and if anyone else has had this? Im thinking it could maybe be a symptom of coming off the pill but I dont really know. Just really hurts! SO BLOATED I feel like my tummy is going to burst haha.
I dont actually think I'm pregnant though... I know there is a chance... I guess!
Not to piss on your cornflakes but I have agonising pain and bloating every time I ovulate. ONe month one side, the next month the other side. So painful and the reason I went on the pill in the first place.
As that doesnt piss on the cornflakes at all! Actually that helps! At least I know there's explanations! Anyway... if its a sign of ovulation then I'm glad we had sex on Wednesday and will be rushing home from work tonight! HAHA! I have literally been on the pill all my adult life... I think this is why Im questioning everything. I only had a few real periods as a teenager (when i first started having periods!) and then my doctor put me on the pill (mostly down to really bad acne as a teen and the doctor said going on the pill would help - and it did!) So... I dont really know what its like to have normal cycles. So its less excitement about the possibility of being pregnancy (although that would be great) and more just like "What the hell is happening to my body!!?!?!" haha
I was wodnering why you were put on Yasmin and then I read about the acne; that was why. Yasmin has anti androgenic qualities and is helpful for this problem. Its not for long term use though so was wondering why you were kept on it for 10 years.
If your cycle happened to be irregular when you were a teen the chances are it will revert back to being irregular. There is no real evidence to suggest that the pill is responsible for failure to ovulate but what it can do is mask symptoms of any underlying hormonal imbalance. Would bear that in mind if your current symptoms come to nothing.
Ah thanks...yes I was put on it because of acne but also my doctor at the time said it was a really good pill....(!?!!?) and he's just always kept me on it. I changed doctor when I moved house a few years a go and my new doctor said it was fine to stay on it and a good pill to take....I've never known any different though so I really dont know!!
I'm trying to think back.... I actually think it was longer than a few months... maybe a year (max) of having periods before my doctor put me on yasmin. But it's hard to remember back to that time so, like I said, I really dont remember what my periods/cycles were like although I know they USED to be regular. Hopefully they will revert back to being regular!
I too was on yasmin, came off it end of October and had a normal period the next month. I thought it would take a while for my cycles to regulate but apparently not. I got pregnant the first month of ttc in December, so It definitely can happen. Unfortunately ended in chemical pregnancy for me, but we tried again in January and I ovulated as normal after the chemical. It didnt happen for us in January but today I got my bfp! So praying this isnt another chemical. So, I would say that coming off yasmin hasn't really seemed to have had any affect in regards to ability to get pregnant. I was on it for around 3 years, i had to really fight to stay on it is very hard to get doctors willing to prescribe it. But for me It was the only pill which left me with zero side affects. I would recommend gettig an ovulation predictor kit (if u don't get your bfp this month) as I used them for the past three cycles and they helped me to realise that I ovulate on day 16 rather than the day 14 which they say is average. Means you can be sure you are having sex ar

hello thats really really useful thank you! a lot of people say they had to really fight to get put on yasmin/stay on yasmin but my doctor happily put me on it and kept me on it for 10 years! no complaints from me though... i never had a problem on it... no side effects.... ! anyway, i think im going to get an ovulation predictor kit - a lot of people have said they use them... i will wait to see if i come on my period though because obviously I'd like to get a BFP straight away haha ;) congrats to you and fingers+toes crossed this time it all goes well for you!! how exciting! xxx
