I recently had a miscarridge, I would have been 6 weeks gone when this happened. It all started with me doing a pregnancy test 3 days after my period due date which was positive (faint line) I then went on to do another test within an hour again positive (faint) so it seemed I was definatly pregnant. Just over a week had passed and I was feeling sick peeing a lot tender breast yep I was definatly pregnant. Then It just stopped all the symptoms had vanished. I never thought anything of it just assumed every pregnancy is different and this was just a different one. As I have 3 children 13year old 10 year old and a 9 month old. Then I went out for a walk around town and came home and was bleeding brownish blood which got heavier and the pain kicked in, so I went to hospital and had a test done it was negative!!! What!! The doctor said I was not pregnant just having a period.. Now I know I'm not stupid.but listened to the doctor and went home. On my way home I picked up a test clearblue and done it at home positive 1-2 weeks it said!! Very confused now!! Rang up the hospital the next day and went for an emergency scan, a pregnancy test done negative result and no baby in the uterus.. Chemical pregnancy they told me.. Never heard of it.. But it turns out the egg and sperm fertilised but did not stick to the wall of the uterus so eventually passed through. I am now trying to conceive. I wanted to share this as maybe someone may have had this happen and never understood what actually happened.

Hi jenhen so sorry for what you are going through. I had a chemical pregnancy in July last year. I had a faint positive and a few days later my period turned up and the tests started showing up negative.

The best way to explain it is yes the sperm and egg did meet, you were pregnant, but for some reason ( chromosomal abnormalities, uterine lining, failure to implant) the embryo didn't complete implantation. My Dh and I like to think of it as the embryo having chromosomal abnormalities and the uterus rejecting it as its trying to protect your body. The fertility consultant told us if the embryo had gone on to develop we would have likely to miscarry later on, so an early miscarriage or chemical pregnancy is just your body's way of detecting that something wasn't right.

A lot of people have successfully conceived soon after. It didn't affect any of my cycles after. Had normal ovulation after the cp. sorry, it's awfully devastating.

Thanks redrobin for your reply, your explaination is a lot better than what I was given. I didn't truly no how to feel after this happened. As I was so confuesed as too was I wasn't I pregnant, once told my test was negative I thought I was going crazy. I definatly knew that what was happening to me was definatly not JUST a period.I hope all is ok for you in the future.x
