Hey all I'm really struggling to get back on track with my diet,I need to lose just under 2 stone before I can start on clomid.....I have never wanted to achieve something so much before but am finding it hard to get my head together!! Surely 8 yrs of ttc my 2nd wud make me more determined but I think maybe the fact of failure for so long is holding me back as I don't ever think it will happen!! Plus I have so much going on in general life as do we all, dont suppose that helps :(
I don't know, just so hard to be positive!!

I wanted to reply. I don't have experience of clomid but I can really relate to the hard journey of losing weight. My weight has been up and down for many years and I have found that I'm someone who needs a weekly weigh-in class to lose weight. I cannot do it alone. I lie to myself, pretend that I didn't just eat 3 kitkats and a bag of walkers!
I know that in my area there is a weight-loss programme that your GP can refer you to. Maybe discuss a similar option with your GP.
I go to weight watchers. I've been to slimming world too but ww is working for me right now. Would a class like this be an option for you?
I think it's really hard this time of year when it's so cold outside, it's not easy to fit exercise in, but maybe an exercise DVD? My friend has just downloaded a Davina app on her mobile which she says is good. There are also some good calorie controlled apps which are free, they tell you the calorie value of everything you eat.

Hope one of these may be of help. Losing weight is so hard but you can do it. Only you can do it! Believe in yourself xx

Hi Hamling

Just thought I'd add some ideas that might help you. I've struggled with weight forever and I try to just keep myself under control now. Here's some suggestions of things that have worked for me. Sorry if they are teaching you to suck eggs, but just offering you some advice on what I do.

You could try to build some exercise into your day by taking the stairs instead of the lift/ escalators when you can. Can you walk to work or get off the bus a couple of stops early? Can you go for a walk at lunchtime - just for 10-15 minutes? If you pop out to buy lunch, choose a shop that's just a bit further away maybe.Or just go round the block - it'll boost your metabolism. Little things like that can make a really big difference.

Can you clear your cupboards out of all the naughty foods you have?

Plan meals and snacks in advance as this will stop you from straying and from panic eating/buying. I always takes my lunch to work so I know exactly what I will be having and I don't have to choose when I am hungry. I pretty much always have soup for lunch in autumn and winter as it keeps you fuller for longer because of the amount of fluids in it.

I've tried to cut down on my caffeine intake and I now allow myself only one coffee or tea a day. The rest of the time I drink herbal tea or water. This will stop you from having those up and downs you feel sometimes.

I try to have something with oats in for breakfast as they definitely fill you up. I can go for about 3-4 hours on a bowl of porridge in quite a demanding job. I put fruit and honey on the top sometimes to make it nicer and to give me more fibre. You could also try something like Weetabix or Shredded Wheat which have the same effect on keeping blood sugar a bit more constant.

Don't deny yourself foods, but just try to cut them down, e.g allow yourself a fun-sized bar of chocolate a couple of times a week and build it into your eating plan. That way you won't feel deprived and you'll look forward to it more. You'll be more likely to stick to it too.

Get you OH doing it with you. You really need his support and you can tell him that he needs to be eating healthily too for his little swimmers. Get him to support you in the exercise - maybe go jogging together when the weather gets a bit better, or swimmingh and hold each other to it. Try to motivate each other and remember why you are trying to do it in the firstplace. Thsi may be a bit extreme, but I have stuck a photo of my baby niece to the fridge to remind me to stay on track myself when I go wandering for food.

Sorry - this is such a long post. I hope it's of some use to you. If you really want to do it though, you'll find a way. I also sometimes watch vids on Youtube that will motivate me, e.g. sometimes I do a quick yoga session, or I watch someone else's weight loss pics thing - maybe I'm sad, but it keeps me on track because I always think, well, if they can do it, so can I!

Best of luck to you. x

Oh yes, and there's the dieting threads on MN too!

Hey both of you and thank you so much for the feedback,I completely agree with both of you as June last year I started sw and list 2 n half stone within 4 months so I know I can do it!! I was thrown off track wen I was signed off work just before Christmas as I was really poorly with vertigo and it affected me quite badly!! I started to just eat what ever I wanted especially sweet things just to give me any little bit of energy I cud get!! I changed so much within my diet prior to that and my oh also did it with me aswell !! My issue is just getting back on track, currently I don't have the funds to start back at group what with it being just after Christmas and so much to pay for!! Although I must admit having pcos doesn't help at all and makes it harder,I'm sure I will get there,I have given myself 3 months as a starting point and have an appointment back at the clinic on the 26th April to see wether I'm at the weight where they can start me on clomid !!
But thank you both of you,it's nice to hear some feedback and encouraging words!! Will see how the next week goes and if I can lose any xx
