It feels bloody painful! I get it on my right side, just inside my hip. It's a very deep, strong pain and it can last for a day or for 2 weeks ....

I get it too, a stabbing pain on the right that happens in the middle of my cycle. It also makes me bloated and crampy, much much worse than period pain. Went to the doc about it and am now back on the pill, slightly worried about the long term effects of this - I'm 36 so wondering if I will need to be on it until menopause and I'm not having any more kids. According to doc it is ver common.

Supposedly it can/does switch sides (depending on which side you are ovulating from) It feels a bit like wind with a smattering of period pain and a soupcon of discomfort!! I wasn't ovulating and so not conceiving until one day I had this awful pain, dtd and conceived ds!! However despite being comfortable that my family is now complete I get this blasted pain every month. Which must mean I'm ovulating. Four years ttc and the money and heartache involved and NOW my body decides to co-operate: TOO LATE OVARIES!!!! TOO LATE! smile

Can I suggest to folks suffering from pain during ovulation that they go see GP? Because I had this (horrendously painful) for about 1hr right in the middle of my cycle and just though, 'shit. It hurts when I ovulate now. Must be age' until I had a M/C and they did a scan and discovered I had a cyst the size of a baby's head on my right ovary. (Had to remove ovary and tube). Anyway, when my GP said, 'But were you not in PAIN?' I had to confess , 'well yeah....I was. But I just thought it was normal as you got older'.....

I've had this for years, it starts on my right side and sometimes feels like stabbing pain, sometimes feels like cramping, sometimes feels like appendicitis (referral to emergency room confirmed it definitely wasn't appendicitis!). At times I thought it was an indication of something more serious but i've had it checked out and it wasn't. Some months I don't get any pain, and sometimes it's on my left side although this is rare. So essentially for me personally, it feels like a range of things and can last for anything from 20 mins to a week.

Cramping mid cycle sounds normal to me.
