Hello ladies

I would like to start a thread/bus/merry-go-round to meet, get support and share with ladies in the same boat as me:

TTC baby no 1!

Will you join me and see it through to the BFP?!

A bit about me - I'm 29, DP is 35. This will be our first child.

kd83 Fri 18-Jan-13 10:56:33

reading the full thread i might have to try clear blue ov sticks next month too if it doesn't happen this month. been trying to read cm, thats why i panicked yesterday cos we had gone 4 days without dtd and i think i was ovulating yesterday,

if cm has changed does that mean you've missed it? should you have been doing it loads before ovulation or during? mumsnet ovulation calendar says i should be ovulating this week or next, but not sure if my cycle is 28 or 35 days.

argh!!!

DailySliceOfGato Fri 18-Jan-13 11:42:31

Can I please join in? TTC #1 and using a CB fertility monitor. It's not particularly sexy, but then neither is having a face-off with the contents of one's knickers on a daily basis!

kd83, I think you're supposed to do it at least every other day before ovulation, every day during ovulation, and then the day or two after ovulation as the egg can sometimes survive for a couple of days. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

setayharas Fri 18-Jan-13 11:50:26

I agree with daily! Defiantly get in there before ovulation so you have the lil swimmers waiting! As apparently they can live a few days.

As far as I can work out and I haven't been monitoring mine so dot quote me. If should go from thick and sticky to watery but stretchy right before and during ovulation then back to thick and sticky after then nothing.

As I say that's roughly I think everyone's cm is slightly different

Hi ladies,

I'd like to join this thread. I'm 32 and DH is 33, we're ttc#1, I came off the pill at new year, and we're getting married at Easter, but I'm secretly hoping to get a BFP very quickly. howver having been on the pill for so many years, I gather it could take a while

I'm new to this site and these boards, so still getting my head around the abbreviations - I gather AF refers to your period? but what does it mean!?

kd83 Fri 18-Jan-13 12:59:10

thanks girls!
hmm.. it only changed yesterday so hopefully if we do it every day for the next week (think of the calories that will burn) just maybe it might happen. I'm not holding my breath though!

bluefreckles Fri 18-Jan-13 14:51:31

kd83, daily, purple and secret - welcome! smile

Lozcat86 Fri 18-Jan-13 16:03:44

Hi everyone, ill join the club!
Ive been ttc for about 15 months, im 26, hubby is 37 and he has 2 kids from previous marriage. Just went to the GP today and she said not to stress etc, which is hard when i know that if there are any problems ill be very unlikely to get fertility help due to the fact that my husband already has children who i love to bits. added to that im a nurse in a childrens hospice so surrounded by kids all day...broody is not the word!
looks like i might be in for the long haul! x

bluefreckles Fri 18-Jan-13 16:50:57

lozcat hey! smile

How often does everyone DTD? It's hard sometimes to get in the mood, especially after a long day at work.

Does anyone have any tips on 'feeling the love'?!!

Ariel21 Fri 18-Jan-13 19:21:01

Hi everyone! Thought I might join in as about to start TTC our first baby, post-mirena coil removal. Am desperate to start just waiting for AF to finish! I've not had one for 2 years (normal on the mirena) so it's a bit of a novelty! Bet I won't be saying that next month...

bluefreckles Fri 18-Jan-13 19:50:02

Welcome Ariel!

ElfSweetPea Fri 18-Jan-13 23:45:56

Hi all! Please can I join this thread? I'm also new to Mumsnet! Great hub for everything you need.

Bit about me - I'm 30, dp 31 and we are ttc for first child and very very excited. Like kd83 we really just want it to happen.

Came off Yasmin at Xmas, had be on it for 13yrs. First AF since coming off the pill has arrived today, so it's not meant to be just yet.

How has everyone found coming off the pill?

bluefreckles Sat 19-Jan-13 11:28:01

Nesswalk Sat 19-Jan-13 11:55:20

ILoveMyCats Sat 19-Jan-13 13:27:37

Hello ladies! I too am in the early stages of ttc for the first time. Just to mention that I have managed to buy clearblue digital ovulation sticks from Amazon without having to buy the whole kit again. Hope that helps.

setayharas Sat 19-Jan-13 13:39:01

im in the 2ww 5dpo at the moment and nothing to report here. just willing the next 9 days away.

i have got quite creamy cm which i havent notcied before but google tells me thats just the progesterone building up.

firsttimekat Sat 19-Jan-13 16:15:32

I'd like to join too. also ttc no. 1, been trying since July. I'm 27, DH 28.

My cycles are all over the place so finding it difficult to predict when things are going to happen. DTD every other day or trying to but does lose the magic sometimes when you aren't in the mood.

roofio87 I've also cancelled plans tonight and blamed the snow, but also about not drinking and feeling a bit weird today. Haven't told friends we're ttc so thought I'd blame the snow!

kd83 Sat 19-Jan-13 19:25:16

bluefreckles I'm in the 2ww too. Imagining every tiny twinge is implantation cramps. Really not trying to get excited as I don't think we DTD enough this month and prob missed my ovulation. Still keeping my fingers crossed cos you never know, it only takes one lol!

Fingers crosse for everyone.

younggrizzly Sat 19-Jan-13 19:49:28

Hi ladies, please can I join too?

I'm new to mumsnet. Been TTC our first since early May 2012 over 10 cycles so far with no luck. AF due on Wednesday but think I ovulated early this month so who knows!

Just had CD21 progesterone test and got to have LH and FSH done on CD4 as well as thyroid as have suspected pcos due to short luteal phase, bad skin, weight gain - so all in all its getting me down!

Been temping and using OPKs for 4 months which is how I found out LP is short.

And that's me! Hoping reading everyone's stories will get me excited about TTC again.

Poppy79 Sat 19-Jan-13 21:14:34

Hi all, I'd like to join to join this thread too please. I came off the pill mid-december and we started ttc straight away. Had some strong symptoms; cramps, constant hunger pangs, headaches, dizzy spells but bnf when we tested and Af turned up last week. Tried not to get too excited but we were disappointed, silly we know but fingers crossed for next couple of weeks. Good luck all x

MarshallJ81 Sun 20-Jan-13 10:42:53

Hi Ladies, can I join in? TTC #1 and very excited! Came off the patch in September and had an early MC in November. Now using OPK (I find superdrugs own brand to be the best!) but its tricky as my cycles are all different lengths, argh! Now on a 2WW fingers crossed and good luck everyone else! X

Frizz1986 Sun 20-Jan-13 15:29:43

Hey blue
My first af since coming off the pill in december seems to be lasting forever.
It caught me very offguard a week ago and hasnt completely gone yet. I fear the spotting could continue for a while.
I am hoping to get my cycles in some form of routine before we actually start ttc tho so i have time to get settled.
I went to my gp before coming off the pill to see what the best things to do before ttc were.
My gp advised to dtd every 2-3 days all the time. The little swimmers can live for a few days so if you dtd every 2-3 days you wont miss ovulation and it takes the pressure off if u are just doing it lots instead of only certain times of the month.
I read somewhere that u shouldnt dtd every day for too long as it actually causes deterioration in the little swimmers as the man cant make them fast enough (dont know if thats true tho)
I am struggling waiting now though as feel as prepared as i can be. Am trying to get my dp to decide when he wants to start. We will def start ttc April at the latest but I am too excited!

sparkle9 Sun 20-Jan-13 15:47:31

I'm 29 and DP is 30. We are hopefully going to TTC our first child very soon. We had said this month but we just moved house and are a bit worried about money seeing as we now have no savings and some credit card spending. All should improve in the next few months and then I'll come off the pill, which I've been taking for about 10 years. I don't plan to use ovulation sticks or anything at first - just DTD and hope for the best. I might start worrying after a year with no BFP. I have bought a thermometer based on a recommendation on another thread - just in case I get the urge to track my basal temperature. I've been taking folic acid since mid-December in preparation.

Does anyone else worry about the financial implications of having a baby? I might be overly anxious about this! I'm the higher earner so being on maternity pay will be hard. Then I'd like to I part time so that's a salary cut plus childcare fees! Scary stuff.

Good luck everyone!
