Hello ladies

I would like to start a thread/bus/merry-go-round to meet, get support and share with ladies in the same boat as me:

TTC baby no 1!

Will you join me and see it through to the BFP?!

A bit about me - I'm 29, DP is 35. This will be our first child.

Hi Bluefreckles! I wld like to join please :) I am 28, fiancé 26 we are ttc baby no.1 too. I just had my first 2ww but AF showed up today so a bit disappointed but hey ho it's only our first month trying! How long have you been ttc? Are you using opks?

bluefreckles · 17/01/2013 19:09

Hey Dowk!
Same as you. I'm now on cycle 2, just finished AF which turned up 2 weeks late!
Now have no idea how long my cycle should be as since coming off the pill (Yasmin) at beginning Oct I've had a 28 day cycle followed by the one just gone which was 42 days!

Oh and no, not using anything yet. Contemplating using ovulation sticks but due to odd cycle lengths not really sure if I'll know when to check!
Bit gross - but might just check cm and go with that.

Oh no, so I take it you were testing when AF was late? I got my implant removed in nov after having it for a year - no period throughout so this is my first! I'm glad in a way so I can now start tracking but I am using the clear blue ovualation kit to test for LH surge and its fab! Otherwise I wouldn't know when I was as no symptoms. Do you know when your ovulating?

Dowk31 · 17/01/2013 19:17

I would have never known to check CM if I hadn't joined here, it's great info when you are a first timer like us! :)

bluefreckles · 17/01/2013 19:27

I might have a look at the clear blue kit then as like you, I have minimal symptoms.
I've learnt so much from being on here. I was so ignorant before, just assumed the minute I came off the pill i would get pregnant!

Yes, when I was late for my AF I really thought I was upduffed on first cycle. Tested 5 times over the two weeks and all were BFN. It was driving me mad!

Hiya
Can I join you?
I'm 31, TTC our 1st. On first 2ww just now.......and it's dragging. I had implanon removed end of December so not a hundred percent sure of cycles yet, but cm indicated ovulation last weekend. Fingers crossed we get lucky first cycle.

Is the clear blue kit something you can use time and time again or do you have to buy lots?

Hey nessy, absolutely!

How are you feeling on your 2ww? Any symptoms yet.

Will be getting everything crossed for you Smile

The kit either comes with 7 tests or 20 and once your done you have to buy a completely new one which is a farce! I thought you'd be able to buy refill test but nope! It's roughly £27-£30 so pretty expensive but well worth it if your cycles are a bit messed up. If you are checking cm tho you may get away with only testing maybe 4-5 days so can last you a good few months. I think tho it's best to dtd before you ovulate which is what I didn't do

Not really, sore nipples, but nothing concrete, to be honest we're not really expecting anything this month......but can't stop thinking "maybe".
We had originally decided to TTC feb but when realised ovulation was perhaps happening thought what the hell.
We're both so excited, we've had quite a rough year with illness that if we get our BFP would make it all worth while.

bluefreckles · 17/01/2013 19:45

Dowk - I may get one of those next month if this month is unsuccessful.

Nessy - It's so exciting isn't it. I really believe in the power of positive thought so I'll be sending lots of good thoughts and baby dust your way. Keep us in the loop as you go through the two weeks - how exciting! Smile

Hi everyone,

I am getting v excited about ttc.
Not quite there yet as only came off my pill in Dec and get married in 11 weeks so trying to hold off starting ttc until march so my wedding day isnt full of me feeling ill if I were to conceive first time.
I am 26 (almost 27) and my dp is 27.
This will be our first and I just cant wait especially as one of my friends is due to give birth in 3 days so the broody meter is currently so high its on meltdown!!

I have the cheap ov tests off amazon and they picked up ov this month but I dont plan on really tracking until first real af is over.
I also have a stash of cheap pg tests in the drawer too and am taking conception vits as I think it cant hurt.

Nessy horizontal is good isn't it?! Wink

Frizz - hello and congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I turn 30 in two months and we're going on holiday to lay on a beach in the sun for a week. So part of me is thinking it won't be so bad if I don't get pg in next two months but equally will be over the moon if we do. If we conceived on holiday our child could have a very exotic name!! Hello ladies, could I join you please?
We are trying for baby no 1. I am 30 and my husband is 27. We have been trying since June 2012 and it's becoming very frustrating and emotional for both of us.
I was on the pill for a lot of years (12) and have been using the clear blue ovulation sticks for the past 3 momths which helped my friend get pregnant recently.
I got very excited and hopeful this month as my boobs got quite big and tender but did a test today and it was negative :(
It would be nice to hear from others who are in the same boat as a lot of my friends are falling pregnant very easily making it a bit weird for me to talk to them about this kind of stuff x

Not got a lot of Pma this month as dp working till 12.30 evwrynight and after 4days in a row of dtd he's given up lol poor sod!

Everyone - does anyone else have really short AF's?
When I was on the pill my AF's were regular as clockwork and lasted 4, maybe 5 days max. Since I have been off the pill my AF's have been 2 or 3 days max.
Any idea what this means?

Welcome roofio!

I was same as you last month. Convinced I would be pg and then when AF was two weeks late I really believed it.
Turns out AF was just teasing me!

Hello bluefreckles nice to see you on another thread.

I'm 32 and DH is 41, TTC first child since June 2012 after 9 years of pill use. To be honest I was never too optimistic about conceiving quickly as there are lots of fertility issues in my family - took my mum 4 years to have me and my aunt needed IVF to have my niece, but I have spent SO long on the fence about whether to have children or not and I don't think it would be the end of the world if I didn't - really love my life as it is (although I keep trying to put that to the back of my mind and reminding myself that life with a DC would be different, but not necessarily worse, otherwise I wouldn't TTC at all). Having said that it would sometimes be nice to know either way - I hate the uncertainty every month and the fact that DTD has become a bit of a chore...

bluefreckles, my AF is also shorter and quite light now. I asked my doctor and apparently that's fine - pill periods aren't "real" periods so they don't indicate what's normal for you.

Hi Ladies, I'd like to join this thread.

I'm 29, DH is 30, we are ttc first baby.

last month wast first month ttc and got AF at start of Jan Sad , so now on second round. AF is due around 2 Feb, so am entering the 2ww now. been a bit slack with DTD this week so am now panicking I missed my window this month (hopefully i still have a few days to try and catch it). never in my life have I been so obsessive about my monthly cycle.

Only came off pill in Oct after 9 years so trying not to get my hopes up too soon, but now we've made the decision to ttc really just want it to happen.

glad to hear others are in the same crazy boat as me!

purplefaries, I feel much the same as you. the uncertainty is so hard to handle, and i love my life right now, but at the same time really want a baby now and am worried about how long it might take.

good luck everyone, its great to be able to share feelings and worries here with you all.

reading the full thread i might have to try clear blue ov sticks next month too if it doesn't happen this month. been trying to read cm, thats why i panicked yesterday cos we had gone 4 days without dtd and i think i was ovulating yesterday,

if cm has changed does that mean you've missed it? should you have been doing it loads before ovulation or during? mumsnet ovulation calendar says i should be ovulating this week or next, but not sure if my cycle is 28 or 35 days.

argh!!!
