Anyone know anything about premature luteal failure?

I have one DS :) but would very much like a second child. So far it's not happening.

Brief history: on OCP for over 10 years (Dianette, then Yasmin latterly, pill choice due to bad acne though I always suspected mild PCOS). Came off pill in 2009, had one period straight off then nothing for probably about 6-7months, then long cycle of about 70 days, eventually achieving 28 day cycle after about 14 months post pill. It was always a bit odd though, never knew when day 1 was as I'd bleed on and off for about a week before my period, before starting my period properly. Suddenly everything clicked into place, I got a positive LH poas and fell pregnant. That was Dec 2010, had healthy DS in Sept 2011.

Since then, breast fed for 6 months and no periods. Finally periods came back around September 2012. Regular 28 day cycle, but no very clearly positive LH poas AND I'm getting pre-period bleeding of about 5 days before proper flow.

I think the pre-period bleeding is a short luteal phase/ premature luteal failure issue. But my guesswork runs out there. Now that I've deduced that, does anyone know what I can do? Does EPO help, or am I needing an appointment to talk about Clomid?

I'm 36 (and a half!) BTW.

Thanks.

B complex with at least 50 of b6 stopped my pre period spotting and gave me my bfp. I too was on dianette for years for acne Tests showed the opposite of pcos - low ovarian reserve. Good luck.

Oh that's interesting -I started taking high dose B vits with the aim of clearing up my acne just before I got pregnant with DS. Had no idea that might have been related to the BFP.

I had this when my periods returned after bf DD1. I too sorted it with vit B6 and conceived DD2 after about 6 months of trying.

My GP was very Hmm and Angry I was self-diagnosing and medicating with vitamins, but it worked a treat! He did say that sometimes our bodies go a bit haywire when getting back to normal after pg and bf but the B6 sorted it for me.

Thanks. The medical profession really doesn't seem that interested in this level of detail of the female reproductive cycle, and I say that as a member of the profession.

Had high dose Vit B complex in the house, took two tabs this morning alongside my pregnacare and started charting. Have been reading the Toni Weschler book and keen to see what my temp is doing across the month.

Keep us posted and good luck. After years of infertility and many £££'s spent it took 6 weeks and a few quid in h&b to get a bfp which stuck.
I totally agree dr's don't know everything I wish they would research more but I suppose there's not the money in it.

I had the same and doctor told me it would just resolve itself. Not content with that answer I tried the Liz lahore homeopathy programme and it stopped spotting within 6 weeks and I got bfp and now 12 weeks and great pregnancy so far!

May obviously be coincidence but I think it is an inexpensive route to try for 2/3 months before clomid etc

Thanks.

Going to try a couple of cycles with B6 and see how things go. Been reading a bit about it today and it makes a lot of sense. Fingers crossed. At the very least I'll have some charted cycles to show the Dr while I try it out.

Will update on my progress, or otherwise!
