Hello, im 7 days late on my period tomorrow. I have taken two sainsburys own brand tests, both a faint possitive but got much clearer as time went on! .. This morning i took a clear blue digital - NOT PREGNANT then a cheapie from poundland .. - NEGATIVE. Im so confused !! ? Iv been noticing slight changes, headaches 2-3 a day that last 5-10 mins, light cramping on and off, gassy ( sorry tmi ) and feeling very bloated with a firmer stomach and im only little so can really notice

Hi, the digital ones are less sensitive so they need more HCG to show a positive. I dont know about the poundland ones.

I know you said you are a week late for your period but do you know how many days past ovulation you are?

I don't want to get your hopes up but logically I think you must be pregnant, there is no way you could even get a faint positive if you weren't pregnant, but you can get false negatives if the hormone levels are low. Suppose you just have to try again in a couple of days.
My first test with DS1, you could only see the line in certain lights, I did about 10 other tests until finally the test line was stronger than the other line!

oh my goodness-I just came on to post something practically the same!

I had a positive from Sainsburys this morning, then a negative clearblue digital and just now a negative from asda own make. So coming to conclude that I'm not pregnant.....but still hoping!

I guess I should test again the morning but was just wondering if there was much point.

Superdrugs ones are supposed to be good. I got a faint positive with one quite early - few days before others.

Oh, and if you peed on the poundland one straight after the digi one, then you may well have used all your hcg in the digi one so there might not have been enough to register on the poundland one.

i did the digi blue in the morning, 7:20am and the poundland one about 3clock in afternoon!

Hmmm. I think you need to give the hcg at least 4 hrs to build up if you are not POASing in the morning.

It does sound like you are pg I reckon!

FWIW I had bfps on FRERs for days before I got one on a clear blue!

Yes, I got a positive on a FRER at 9 DPO but BFNs on clear blue until 16 DPO. I fell pg with IVF so I know my dates!

Could you have ovulated later than CD14?

Hello! I I used to work for the company that makes Clearblue and also the hospital and supermarket brand ones.

I can tell you an Actual Fact. You CANNOT make a test turn even ever so faintly positive if you're not pregnant. The hCG hormone which is the hormone detected by the test is ONLY produced if you're pregnant, never at any other time, ever.

So regardless of whatever test you've used, if you have even a slight line that suggests positive, then you ARE producing hCG and therefore YIU ARE PREGNANT. FACT.

Yay!!! Congratulations!!!!GrinThanks

I just did some searching online and saw that the digital Sainsburys test are known for false positives and that's what I used. Poo

I guess I kinda expected this as when I had DD I had strong positive on every test even before AF was due. Sad glad I didn't tell DH.

good luck Lily update when u know!

In which case, I can confidently say, having worked for 6 years at Unipath in Bedford (google it!) that you are DEFINITELY pregnant. That are NO SUCH THINGS as any false positives. (Unless someone very sadly loses a pregnancy very soon after doing the test).

Hurrah for you and your baby! I will offer you a virtual Wine!!! Xxxx

ooo, how exciting! I hope you are and congrats if you have already tested again!

Report
GlassTrees · 11/01/2013 21:40

Sainsburys ones are also made at Unipath in Bedford using the same robot machines as Clearblue. It's just older tech that's all. There is no way that there can be a trend to have false positives wit Sainsburys ones for the reasons ive already said. HCG is ONLY produced when you're pregnant. So if you wee and it makes a stick have a line, you must have HCG in your wee. so you must be pregnant.

One more quick question if anyone knows, if you did have a MC after doing a pregnancy test would you not bleed? Not to sure about that one as you would be so early! Hope iv not had one :( :(
