Hello, im 7 days late on my period tomorrow. I have taken two sainsburys own brand tests, both a faint possitive but got much clearer as time went on! .. This morning i took a clear blue digital - NOT PREGNANT then a cheapie from poundland .. - NEGATIVE. Im so confused !! ? Iv been noticing slight changes, headaches 2-3 a day that last 5-10 mins, light cramping on and off, gassy ( sorry tmi ) and feeling very bloated with a firmer stomach and im only little so can really notice

Hi, the digital ones are less sensitive so they need more HCG to show a positive. I dont know about the poundland ones.

I know you said you are a week late for your period but do you know how many days past ovulation you are?

HardlyEverHoovers Fri 11-Jan-13 21:08:29

I don't want to get your hopes up but logically I think you must be pregnant, there is no way you could even get a faint positive if you weren't pregnant, but you can get false negatives if the hormone levels are low. Suppose you just have to try again in a couple of days.
My first test with DS1, you could only see the line in certain lights, I did about 10 other tests until finally the test line was stronger than the other line!

oh my goodness-I just came on to post something practically the same!

I had a positive from Sainsburys this morning, then a negative clearblue digital and just now a negative from asda own make. So coming to conclude that I'm not pregnant.....but still hoping!

I guess I should test again the morning but was just wondering if there was much point.

my cycle is 28 days .. im always on time, 1 maybe 2 days late once in a blue moon if im stressed etc. Oh i do hope i am! trying not get my hopes up ! HardleverHoovers how many days after your period did you get a strong line??

Iggly Fri 11-Jan-13 21:12:06

Superdrugs ones are supposed to be good. I got a faint positive with one quite early - few days before others.

lilyholdin20 Fri 11-Jan-13 21:12:48

how late are you on your period TTChristmasstyle??

Ginshizz Fri 11-Jan-13 21:13:00

Oh, and if you peed on the poundland one straight after the digi one, then you may well have used all your hcg in the digi one so there might not have been enough to register on the poundland one.

smile

lilyholdin20 Fri 11-Jan-13 21:14:31

i did the digi blue in the morning, 7:20am and the poundland one about 3clock in afternoon!

Ginshizz Fri 11-Jan-13 21:17:13

Hmmm. I think you need to give the hcg at least 4 hrs to build up if you are not POASing in the morning.

It does sound like you are pg I reckon!

FWIW I had bfps on FRERs for days before I got one on a clear blue!

TTChristmasstyle Fri 11-Jan-13 21:17:56

I'm not sure to be honest, maybe only a day so I really might getting getting my hopes up falsely-. I haven't said anything to DH just in case the positive . one was an error.

when will u test again Lily?

lilyholdin20 Fri 11-Jan-13 21:18:37

oh really? that gives me some hope! soo frustrating all this waiting!

lilyholdin20 Fri 11-Jan-13 21:20:55

ah i see! maybe you should leave it a few days than! im a bit iffy about these sainsbury tests! i have heard of false positives with them although my doctor said you will never get a false positive. Dont know what to believe! TTChristmasstyle i'll be testing inthe morning, got one cheapie poundland one left! If still negative ill just wait it out !

Ginshizz Fri 11-Jan-13 21:22:13

Yes, I got a positive on a FRER at 9 DPO but BFNs on clear blue until 16 DPO. I fell pg with IVF so I know my dates!

Could you have ovulated later than CD14?

GlassTrees Fri 11-Jan-13 21:23:57

Hello! I I used to work for the company that makes Clearblue and also the hospital and supermarket brand ones.

I can tell you an Actual Fact. You CANNOT make a test turn even ever so faintly positive if you're not pregnant. The hCG hormone which is the hormone detected by the test is ONLY produced if you're pregnant, never at any other time, ever.

So regardless of whatever test you've used, if you have even a slight line that suggests positive, then you ARE producing hCG and therefore YIU ARE PREGNANT. FACT.

Yay!!! Congratulations!!!!grinthanks

lilyholdin20 Fri 11-Jan-13 21:25:36

Oh i see! so quite late than! ... Im not sure maybe? I havnt really checked out my fertile days etc, we both agreed it will happen when it will happen dont want to put strain on it with temp charts etc! We have been unprotected for 7 months now and his birthday next friday so would be a great birthday present! Fingers crossed!!!

lilyholdin20 Fri 11-Jan-13 21:27:47

Really!? Oh i do hope so !! iv just heard a few people on these forums saying they have had fake positives! i know my tests arnt evap lines as they are perfect blue lines! GlassTrees

TTChristmasstyle Fri 11-Jan-13 21:33:34

I just did some searching online and saw that the digital Sainsburys test are known for false positives and that's what I used. Poo

I guess I kinda expected this as when I had DD I had strong positive on every test even before AF was due. sad glad I didn't tell DH.

good luck Lily update when u know!

lilyholdin20 Fri 11-Jan-13 21:35:16

dont lose hope TTChristmasstyle ypu never know! i shall update tomorrow!!

GlassTrees Fri 11-Jan-13 21:35:56

In which case, I can confidently say, having worked for 6 years at Unipath in Bedford (google it!) that you are DEFINITELY pregnant. That are NO SUCH THINGS as any false positives. (Unless someone very sadly loses a pregnancy very soon after doing the test).

Hurrah for you and your baby! I will offer you a virtual wine!!! Xxxx

fiddlemethis Fri 11-Jan-13 21:36:46

ooo, how exciting! I hope you are and congrats if you have already tested again!

GlassTrees Fri 11-Jan-13 21:40:34

Sainsburys ones are also made at Unipath in Bedford using the same robot machines as Clearblue. It's just older tech that's all. There is no way that there can be a trend to have false positives wit Sainsburys ones for the reasons ive already said. HCG is ONLY produced when you're pregnant. So if you wee and it makes a stick have a line, you must have HCG in your wee. so you must be pregnant.

lilyholdin20 Fri 11-Jan-13 21:43:14

Oh i do hope so !! Thankyou :D Could do with a glass of something to calm my nerves but ill give that a miss just incase! :D
One more quick question if anyone knows, if you did have a MC after doing a pregnancy test would you not bleed? Not to sure about that one as you would be so early! Hope iv not had one sad sad

TTChristmasstyle Fri 11-Jan-13 21:47:32

glass you are real source of great information! would you know which test is the most sensitive?

lilyholdin20 Sat 12-Jan-13 07:35:21

well no period and another negative test sad
