I am now 9 days late but have no BFP Sad
I did a pg test early morning on 3rd Jan = BFN. I then did a second pg rest after work on 4th = BFN. Both tests were 'first response - 6 days earlier'.
I'm now very confused and worried. Really thought I was pg but now not so sure.
I have no AF symptoms either. Very tired and struggling to concentrate, bloated stomach, occasional cramping and have been peeing quite a bit. Have felt a teensy bit queasy occasionally but why the BFN?
Has anyone been through this and got a BFP eventually?

Hi bluefreckles I have been in exactly the same situation. I've been off the pill since August and TTC since Oct. have had regular light periods until dec when I had nothing. I did 4 tests over 12 days, but had very few/minor symptoms like you. All were bfn. I went to the docs in the end. She did another test and told me I def wasn't pregnant after that much time. They didn't seem worried - put it largely to my body adjusting after the pill. They said, as long as I had had some periods since the pill they weren't worried and it could take 6-8 months off the pill before they find a cycle. They also said that, since I was irregular before going on the pill 10 years ago, they could be irregular again. Does any of that relate to you?

My doc told me to go back if I don't have any more periods for another couple of months but if they are just irregular keep doing tests!

It's really annoying because it gets your hopes up unnecessarily! I needed the push from the doc to say "definitely not" though cos I was driving myself mad thinking maybe it was just too early!

Hope this helps...you are not alone!

Me three!!! This is only my second ever post as I'm fairly new to mumsnet but I'm worried too so thought I'd post Smile

I'm now 5 days late and still no BFP - have also been trying the first response tests! This is my second cycle since ERPC in November following a MMC, but I had AF last month at 27 days post ERPC so thought this cycle would be ok. I've also got preg type symptoms - having just been pregnant, they really do feel the same and we were actively trying Wink

I've actually got a hospital appointment with a gynae tomorrow as MC follow up and referral re previous problems. I'm going to ask him the stats on this as I'm 50/50 between thinking I have another ovarian cyst vs pregnant - argh! But I'm dreaded telling him I think I'm pregnant when I have no proof, I feel I'll look stupid, esp if AF turns up straight away!

Likewise, it would be lovely to hear that it is still possible to see good news soon. I'll also report back with when he/she says to this question - fingers crossed for us all

Hi both. Lovely to hear from you. I've also (sorry TMI) been having a lot of creamy white cervical mucus last week or so which I have read can be another sign of being pg.
I'm going to re-test in the next couple of days...
Also having some cracking moods swings, bit of back ache and bloated crampiness.
Just want to know what's going on!

Purple - I'm still very much hoping I'm pg too.
Are you going to retest any time soon?

Hi, same happened to me over nov/dec. af late, negative pg tests, negative hcg blood test at dr and finally 76 days later AF arrived! I usually very regular. So this was a bit of a shock. I have been ttc for almost 2 years now and thought this was my time Sad.

Freckles, me too, and it's exactly the same as when I was preg in sept/oct! Plus IBS type symptoms already - yuk. My DH tried to cheer me up by telling me I'm having a phantom pregnancy like our friends dog Grin which did actually make me laugh (I have a weird sense of humour).

I think I should test again in the morning before I go to my appointment as it would be really embarrassing if I get asked to try testing there and its positive - not sure though as I'll end up getting upset again!

Oh no blitzy, so sorry to hear that, that's rubbish Thanks

We'll all get there eventually and when we do we'll appreciate it even more for the challenges we've been through.

Hey everyone. No progress from my end. Was really moody and tense last night. Lots of creamy white cm (sorry for TMI). Back ache. Crampy, bloated stomach with ridiculous amount of wind (again, sorry!). Nothing on the boob front - maybe slightly fuller than normal. And of course - now 9/10 days late with no sign of AF at all.
DP is now very excited but I won't believe it until someone or something confirms it.
Waiting for cheap ebay tests to arrive...

Hi, sorry for not reporting back sooner - I've wasted the entire morning at the hospital for a 20 min appointment. Stupid nurse insisted that I didn't need to take my big clompy boots off for weigh in and then put me at a BMI of 26 when I'm clearly a size 10-12, I know it's not that bad, but it annoys me as it's the first time it's been over 25 and it will stay on my records! Then after the appointment, a 90 min wait at the pharmacy and the poor woman on reception was run off her feet when there were receptionists everywhere else doing very little - argh I hate the NHS!

On the question re. this thread - at the end of my appointment I asked about my current symptoms & lack of a BFP and he basically said there is nothing else any dr can or really needs do in the first few weeks after AF was meant to show up as the home tests are very sensitive & accurate! I asked about if nothing happens in a week etc and he said that I just have to wait it out as either I'll eventually get a BFP or AF will arrive and there's no point stressing about it until that happens! I will let you decide if you want to take that advice as tbh I'll probably still go and ask the doctor for a blood test if this carries on after all I went through with my last rather eventful but short-lived pregnancy!

ps. Blue I'm keeping fingers crossed for you

Girra - has your AF arrived? When I came off the Pill at 20 I didn't have any cycles at all in 6 months, at which point I wanted to go back on the pill as I was at Uni - at the time dr wasn't remotely worried and just told me to go straight back on it! I would definately keep an eye though and if anything seems odd, go back to the dr as I have ended up with gynae issues from about age 21 - am 31 now.

Same situation with me. I came off the pill in May 2012 and have had regular 31-34 day cycles ever since. Fairly confident I have been ovulating as I get quite marked OV pain and CM consistent with OV.

Was due AF on New Year's Eve, tested on Jan 3rd and BFN :( This is now CD 42. No AF symptoms, but also lots of CM (including a lot of jelly-like CM - sorry - last week) and odd cramping in my lower back (which I've never had before and don't get with AF). Also feeling light-headed and dizzy, although this wears off in the course of the day.

Glad to see others are in the same position, but it's really frustrating, isn't it? I've been "sure" I was pregnant twice before and it came to nothing, so trying hard not to focus too much on it. I really hope it isn't the start of upset cycles though. I was really pleased with my regular cycles coming off the pill and thought that would be a good sign.

May test again first thing tomorrow morning but know I'll be so frustrated if it's another BFN. I had a dream last June that I would be due in September 2013 and have always wondered if there was something in it - but I also have a really vivid imagination and sometimes I wonder if my "symptoms" are half-imagined.

Fingers crossed we are all pregnant!!!!

yep definately fingers crossed... completely agree - I'm the same - so sure I'm pregnant but DH is trying to stop me getting my hopes up, which he is of course right to do so I'm less upset if/when AF appears.

I've been testing with First response since NYE as my symptoms started on the 29th and I was sure I had implatation spotting on Christmas Day. The other day I thought there was a faint line but DH told me I was seeing things - seriously, this can drive you mad & broke! /must buy some internet cheapy tests!

Just wanted to put my tuppence worth in as I can completely relate to your frustrations!
2 years ago, period 10 days late and despite clockwork cycles no BFP! Doctor gave me a phone consultation and told me that I "probably" wasn't pregnant. 9 months later same doctor was giving my son his newborn checkup!
I didn't get a positive until a good 17 days after period was due.
The only thing that got me through those 2 weeks+ of not knowing either way was googling and reading all threads relating to this phenonomen!
Good luck to you all - it sucks having to be patient!

Hi mrsstewpot - it's lovely to hear one of these stories that ends in a beautiful baby. Gives us all hope. Thank you.
Just out of interest, what were your symptoms in that long wait for your BFP after your missed period?

Looking back it's hard to tell of any real symptoms. I was going crazy and over thinking any twinge or cramp. I was very emotional but that could have been the stress of not knowing what the hell was going on!
When I went for my 12 week scan it turned out that I was only around 10 weeks which accounted for the very late BFP. The midwife later explained that I must have ovulated very late in my cycle, close to when my period would have been due. She said that could have been due to stress. Now I don't now if I'm a late ovulater (just 1 pregnancy) but I do know I'd had an extremely stressful month at work so perhaps that delayed ovulation.
Hope that makes sense!

Thank you. That's really helpful. I wonder if I am in the same boat - work has been pretty stressful lately. The AF prior to missing one, was that normal?
I last had AF on 1st December. the two weeks prior to that I was experiencing LOADS of pg symptoms. Boobs hurt, felt queasy, just had a feeling. When AF turned up it started off brown and then turned pink then red. It only lasted 3 days max.
This month I haven't had sore boobs - they do feel SLIGHTLY fuller - but I am getting cramps, bloatedness, mood swings like you wouldn't believe, back ache, daily creamy white cm for about 2 weeks and of course no AF...
