Hi had a hsg done today following an ectopic last January to check my tubes, consultant said that it has been known for people to conceive quite soon after having it done...has this happened for anyone?

I am interested in the responses as I am getting a hycosy done next week. Very slightly different to a hsg but similar procedure. Fx it happens for you summer

Fingers xd for all of us then, she said apparently fertility increases for the next 3 months but there's not been any research carried out into it!

That's good - 3 months - as I am away with work soon after mine for a few days.

Am having a really down day about it all so it can't come soon enough Xmas Smile

impatient I have mine on the 7th jan. I am getting mine done on cd8 and OV between cd14 - cd17 so hoping to get that magic bfp in the new year!

Not looking forward to the pain and discomfort though.

Here's your real life proof!

DS1 conceived after fourteen months of trying following an HSG.

I saw the remnants of his wee egg during the HSG ultrasound!

And I know at least a couple of other 'first cycle after HSG' ladies too. Your consultant isn't having you on!

Oh and Red - it doesn't hurt imo! Just take a couple of paracetamol and try to relax and you should be fine.

So good to hear that whistling how long did you wait to dtd after the hsg?

Amazing that you could see the remnants f the egg! Does that mean you had the hsg after you OVed?

Report
iluvsummer · 01/01/2013 10:56

It didn't hurt that much I took 2 paracetamols an hour before, it was a bit crampy when it was being done but nothing worse than period type pains, I was quite sore and tender in the afternoon but its much better today but definitely couldn't face dtd yesterday!

Thanks whistling Grin

Unfortunately mine is CD12 but I usually O around 17 so should be ok - that's why I was glad to hear the 3 month thing!

It's taken me 3 attempts to get booked in so wasn't going to get fussy & our consultant apt is end of this month so really didn't want any more delays!

Hmmm biology A level was a long time ago now.

I think it must have been done just around O as the doctor doing the ultrasound said she could see the corpus luteum (sp?) from where the egg had been. So I suppose I saw the remnants of where his egg had recently been or released from?

Yikes someone with some medical knowledge help me out here

I think we dtd that evening or the next just because the timing was right. Could not believe it when I finally fell pregnant! And I do like to think that I saw DS1 at such an early point of his development Grin

Good luck ladies! And glad it didn't hurt too much iluv

Hi all, I had my hsg on the 20th Dec. Dr doing it said I had a very small opening to my cervical canal but that hopefully the hsg had opened it up. She said that the "three month rule" is because you're flushed out and opened up by it.
Certain it hasn't happened with me but hope that next ninth will be different.
Good luck to you all.

Worked for me Smile

11 months of ttc DS2 and I conceived shortly after the HSG. I was also told it could increase my fertility chances but I just laughed in his face!

Best of luck OP!

I had a hsg end nov and was told to use protection for that month . Anyone else been told this? think there's a risk with the dye or something? Anyways, hoping for some good news soon. X

Hi Tillyann not on any meds as have been diagnosed with Unexplained Infertility so frustrating and really depressing. Longterm TTC just wrecks any spontaneity. I had high hopes for the HSG but had 2 more cycles since an just nothing happening - at the point of giving p o risking my marriage.

I hope get some good news soon - best of luck.

It's incredibly frustrating and I get the whole lack of spontaneity thing too. Have you been trying long?
We are ttc #2, our son is 2.5 and are 18 months in this time. No problems detected, tubes clear. Ov fine. Hubbie fine too. Hoping to share this rocky road with some nice ladies. Xxx

We got some tests done early on and I am on cycle 9. DHs SA showed a high level (25%) of antisperm antibodies and low morphology (2%). My results have come back normal so far.

Hope hycosy gives those sperm a clear passage to swim.

We are on cycle 7 now after a mms chemical and an ectopic, v lucky to have ds who is 2 next month and do count out blessings with him but with me being an only we'd love him to have a sibling. It's v frustrating month after month nothing happening and trying to time it right sometimes feels like all the fun is being taken out of it!

Thanks to those sharing experiences - always good to hear the reality however much we want to believe it will be a miracle cure...

Just for info we're on cycle 19 ttc #1. DH has been checked & whilst figures were all in the normal range they were low - was referred to urology but since discharged as no major concern/reason was found.

HyCoSy on Jan 10th then back to consultant on 31st for us!
