Mirena coil removal vs pregnancy

I had my mirena coil removed 12 days ago, with the intention of having 3 months for my cycle to even out then ttc. the nurse asked if I'd had sex in the previous 7 days and when I said I had she told me there was a chance I could get pregnant.
I was fairly sure I wouldn't as I don't think I was due to ovulate until the following week.
Now I'm panicking, I'm not sure if I'm ready for this yet!
just wondering if anyone has fallen pregnant from the sex before the coil is removed?

It's theoretically possible to get pg from sperm that got into you before the coil was removed because (a) sperm can live in the body for a few days after sex and (b) the coil doesn't stop sperm getting to the egg but prevents implantation, which can happen up to 5 days after fertilisation (that's why insertion of a coil can work as an emergency contraceptive) - the nurse woul not have taken your expected ovulation date into account as most people can't be sure of this. Don't worry too much though, if you are right about your ovulation day then the likelihood is fairly low.
