Can you help me work out IVF dates?

OK so not wanting to do things by halves, I am currently stimming for my first cycle of IVF. I also get married in 4 weeks time. My stimming has taken longer than anticipated. When I went in today for my (4th) scan, they asked me to come back in again on Monday. By then I'll have stimmed for 15 days; they are trying to allow some smaller follicles to catch up.

If I go in on Monday and they are happy enough that I'm then ready to go (which I think I will be) then presumably the earliest they will do theatre is Wednesday, because I need at least 36 hours after the trigger shot? Is that right?

So of course the Saturday is when I have my hair trial booked, plus am visiting the wedding venue; which is a 3 hour drive away. But that will be I think day 3 after a Wednesday retrieval or day 2 after a Thursday retrieval. Does ET only happen on days 2, 3 or 5. Presumably it never happens on day 4?

I am thinking I have to be prepared with a back up plan, which I really don't have. Have I worked the days and timings out correctly?

I can't help you with the dates I'm afraid but I hope you manage to do it all and I've reported the above post for being madder than jack mcmad.

So if they do egg retrieval on Wed it Thur, it shouldn't affect your plans for the Sat. I went back to work the day after egg retrieval, twice. It really only took an hour or two after theatre before I was ready to go and bored with having to wait til the would discharge me.

I didn't have a GA though, so that prob helped

Hi nelly I've heard of a 3 or a 5, not heard of a 2. Sorry, but based on a trigger on Monday night and a 3 day transfer (which my understanding is still the most common though this may not be true in the UK), you are looking at Wednesday EC and Saturday ET. I would wait until the Monday appointment, I was sent away for a couple of extra days simming then a trigger at my last scan. Also, I'm not saying what you have planned on Saturday is doable if the ET is then but the day is not a write off in the same way that the EC is. Help that helps a little.

Thanks I guess I'm just going to have to play it by ear. Grrrr. Stupid slow follies ( not really, I love them and they must grow grow grow Smile).

I want to know what the mad post said though!!

Doll I think the concern with Saturday is how far away (geographically) my appointments are. I don't think I can realistically do both. Sad

mad deleted woman was some kind of advertising for a star gazer who could make all your dreams come true.

It might be worth talking to them about when they want to do these things. I ended up having to go to some of this by myself as dh had a massive crisis at work. They did say to me they could have shifted things by one day. So before they do the trigger, ask them if it's possible to do this.

Does this mean that you'll be finding out if you're pg the same weekend as you're getting married?

I, of course, didn't have a straightforward response to implantation and ended up having to go back for extra tests. I think you're totally mad very brave to do the 2 things at once. Is there any time you can get off work?

After I did IVF I discovered that I was allowed up to 10 days off work, and, like maternity leave, it wasn't meant to be counted as sick leave/personal leave etc. If you can get days off work then you could maybe do some of the wedding stuff midweek, and relax more. Relaxing is pretty important.

Oh shame I missed the stargazing Hmm.

I am entitled to leave for IVF, but have chosen not to take it as I don't want anyone to know. I can't really get any more time off (holiday wise) as I'm already off for 5 weeks Pre and post wedding. To be honest I'm not a big relaxer and prefer to be kept busy. This is just typically the one Pre-fixed appointment. The only real stress I've found is at the beginning because I wasn't responding well, but other than that I've not found it stressful doing both, in fact one keeps me from obsessing over the other.

I think I would find out if its worked the weekend before my wedding. If it works, hooray. If not I have plenty to distract me Smile.

Yes I can ask them on Monday and see if I could delay EC for one day. Thank you.

Good luck with it all. I know how hard it is. My first go round I had NO follicles, so had to be on an unusual mix of drugs from then on. IT can become all-consuming, so having the minor distraction of a wedding is not such a bad idea if you can get the practical stuff taken care of.

Thank you. Did you have success, or is it still ongoing? Luckily I now have 4 or 5 follies brewing. With an AMH of 1 that's a miracle in itself. Smile
