We've tested positive twice this morning. But both testing lines were fainter than the control line. After the horrors of our chemical pregnancy in the summer (after five, count 'em, years of trying), we're understandably a little unsure.
Are these definitely positive?
Well if it were me I'd be celebrating. Congratulations it sounds like you're updiffed!
Yes, a line is a line! Congratulations! You could do a few more tests in the next couple of days and the line should get darker as the hcg doubles daily (roughly) to reassure yourself. Sorry to hear about the cps - are you testing early? I always think wait until at least AF is a bit late to avoid any really early ones...
Oh and well done! After five years I can imagine it's hard to believe those lines but any line is a positive. Go get a digital one and do it in the morning. Seeing the word should help
Paolo, I remember your thread from summer. Fingers firmly crossed for you and your wife.
For what it's worth, my BFPs have all started off extremely feint. If you test in a few days it should get a little darker and thicker.
Best of luck.
Thanks you two. The summer was a "normal" attempt - we tested on the day AF was due. Got a positive on a digital - tested twice 3 hours later and were rewarded with BFNs. Tested 5 days later and it was a BFN.
This time it's an IVF cycle. We were told to test today. The clinic's test produced a fairly faint line but the First Response line was slightly thicker but still not as strong as the control line. We both feel sick, although probably for slightly different reasons....
Thanks Lightrain. That's good to know. Could have done with a nice big fat one to begin with!
I got a fine but distinct line on an FRER to start with (and two very fuzzy Internet cheapies!) and as days went by I got thicker, faster results. I stopped at 11 (had been TTC for nearly 3 years myself!). I found the easiest way to cope initially was to say Today, I am pregnant - gradually I started looking ahead. I'm now 16+4, have had a scan and heard a heartbeat so I can start to think about having a baby at the end of it! But yes, you are pregnant. Try to quash the negative thoughts s d embrace the positive
I remember your thread from the summer too. Very best of luck to you and your wife, you sound as though you deserve it. As faith says, take each day as it comes
Thanks, I appreciate the positive thoughts. It is all so OVERWHELMING.
Yup, I remember that feeling very well! I still keep thinking Good grief, I'm actually pregnant!
Well done!!!! I can't believe you've kept at it for five years! Even more deserving!
Thanks Christelle. My g/f is a very, very (very) determined character.
I remember your summer thread - CONGRTUALTIONS! I'm hitting the two year mark, it sucks. May the next 9 months be as stress free as possible.
Thanks Rabbit - hang on in there. If we can do it, nearly anyone can.
Another test this morning. A stronger test line! Bloody hell. She is truly up the duff. Now for 8 months of anxiety.....
Thank you. I hope it is sinking in! Is hard isn't it, it's like trying to catch a ball for years and missing every time. I bet when you finally catch it, it's terrifying that you might drop it again. Wishing you so much luck and hope the nervousness fades as it all starts to feel more real. Not sure if you'll check this again but out of interest was this your first ivf go? And were you unexplained?
Hi Rabbit, thanks for the kind words. This was our second full-on, all the drugs, all the hassle IVF attempt. Had a postponed FET transfer in between as both embryos failed to survive the thaw. And, of course, the summer's CP.
And, yes, unexplained.
Congratulations - what wonderful news. Enjoy the + tests for a few weeks, why not?! Wishing you and your wife tonnes of luck on the journey of pregnancy, birth and parenthood!!!
I remember you too! whispers congratulations!
Thanks peeps. I'm still whispering it to myself too.
Paoleece - just in case you didn't know - you can ask for a progesterone test to make sure the pregnancy is heading in a positive direction, this way if any spotting etc occurred they can increase your progesterone to help keep things moving forwards nicely. Good luck, you thoroughly deserve it xx
Thanks Luckystar. We're going back to UK - via 18 hour drive and ferry rather than flight (over-cautious? Us?) - in 10 days for clinic scan. All OK so far. She's tired, nauseous and full of wee. Sounds like 2/3 of a hangover.

Thanks so much everyone. For the time being, I'm hauling ass over to Pregnancy,
