Anyone tried artificial insemination at home?

It's a bit private but then I figure isn't everything on here. Dh has gone 'shy' and is finding it difficult to sustain his performance. It's simply he's putting so much pressure on himself. I'm considering suggesting AI at home to take the pressure off. He's very capable until it comes to intercourse and then it goes a bit wrong. This is making him worse because he's stressing about it all before it even happens. Yet feels terrible because we both so want to try and get pregnant.

This is all very new to me and I really feel like I need some help and advice please.

Erm <furtive look around> yes. We had the same problem. I would give him the nod, he'd produce a sample into a pot. Best thing is to use sperm friendly lube with it (otherwise it gives everywhere, believe me!). Some lube actually comes with applicators like conceive plus and pressed actually comes with a syringe.

I'll be honest, it didn't get me pregnant but that's because investigations showed fertility problems but it certainly took the pressure off!

Not me but a gay friend of mine conceived at home using a syringe (she lovingly referred to it as a turkey baster!). She got pregnant on the first round too so it definitely works!

Good luck in whatever you decide.

I've been and bought a medicine syringe but not sure it's the right sort of syringe? It's not very long blush

Hi. Your post could have been written by me! We got a kit from fertility friend I think it is, consists of 5 syringes/5 specimen pots for his swimmers/ovulation tests/ pregnancy tests and lube. Dp was feeling the pressure and once a week dtd was not going to get me pregnant! After the first month of trying this method (which we did every other day over fertile period), I am now 13 weeks pregnant!! You must lay down for at least 30 mins after on your back with bum under pillow, and leave syringe in place which helps stop the little swimmers all coming back out! Sorry if tmi!

Syringe doesn't need to be That long, 5ml -10ml, also his sperm need to be left in pot for at least five mins to liquefy as too lumpy to use immediately !

Thank you ladies. I've shown my dh this thread and its made him feel abit more normal. He's agreed to try it and see how we get on grin. It's abit like a science experiment. Fingers crossed

This thread has some really great advice! My partner and I (lesbian couple in NC) have recently found a sperm donor and are trying to conceive by the Turkey baster method. We bought a syringe (it's kinda small) but we just tried for the first time three days ago. Our donor ejaculated in a condom and then tied it so no air could get to it. When I got home(it was a 20 minute drive, idk if the sperm dies by then????) I injected it into the syringe and into me pulled the syringe out and kept my legs elevated for 20 mins. Did I do anything wrong? Any comments/tips/advice would be so helpful! Thanks!

You need special condoms - the if you have just bought one that is sold as a contraceptive it may have spermicide in it, and even the spermicide free ones are made with chemicals that are toxic to sperm.
Apologies if you know that - in the UK the non-spermicidal ones are called silastic condoms and they are safe for sperm collection as you describe. Make sure the syringes you use don't have a rubber plunger either as that will kill the sperm too.

Yup! Another pre seed tube user here! I have a 1 year old now and we were finding they every other day sex too much. So we alternated a tube and sex. Don't know which our dd came from, but it worked!

Tell your dd he is perfectly normal. To be honest it's helped keep out sex life sexy! As it helps separate ttc and sex.
