So, back in late July I had my letter telling me to go for my smear test.
I did so and the nurse said 'I couldn't get a good sample, expect the result to be a borderline one'. So when the letter came through saying that I had a borderline result and needed a colposcopy I wasn't too worried.
I made an appointment for one day after work and went along.
The gynaecologist asked me all sorts or questions and I said that I was TTC. She then took me though and into a room with two nurses. We ended up having a laugh and a chat all the way through, because I'm of the opinion that you have to in that kind of situation.
She used a doodad like you have when you are having your smear done but this time my cervix was up on a TV screen so I could see it too.
She sprayed it with a solution and told me that any dodgy cells would show up white.
There was a ring of white around the entrance of my cervix. She wasn't happy about this, but not worried, and called the consultant in. He said that he too wasn't worried but asked for a pipelle biopsy and an ultrasound to be done.
The pipelle biopsy was done there and then by feeding a thin wire into my womb and taking a scrape of the surface, it hurt but wasn't unbearable.
I have the ultrasound on Tuesday.
I'm not so worried as the gynaecologist and consultant weren't too worried. He said that it'll be a case of back in six months for another smear and keep a check on it.
Anyway, with all that going on TTC has been put on the back burner rather. However the arrival of a friends baby has made both of us determined to get it done!
I'll update as soon as I know anything.
