Conception

Is it too soon after a MMC to be pregnant or is it just false hope??

A silly post really, but need to write this down as I feel like I am going out of my mind!!

Found out my baby had died at our 12 week scan at 10 weeks and then had an ERPC a week after that. ERPC was 4 weeks today. We did the deed 2 weeks after (have a 28 day cycle) so based on a normal cycle I should have ovulated then. Now I know cycles can be all over the place after a miscarrige, but I am just hoping for the best case scenario!!

My AF should be due today (again, based on a normal cycle) but nothing yet. I'm feeling a little sick and getting lots of twinges but none of my normal AF or pregnancy syptoms. Did a test yesterday and nothing:(. Am I being silly or could there be a little miracle inside me?????

Hi Lilyrose, I'm so sorry about your loss.

You're not being silly. I've read about some people on here who got back into a regular cycle very quickly after an ERPC, and if this has happened to you, then it's definitely possible that you could be pregnant again. However for some others it can take a while to get back to normal and I suppose it's impossible to know which of these groups you're in unless you've been using OPKs.

I do remember that in the cycle after my first miscarriage I got all sorts of unusual twinges throughout the month, and in fact it turned out to be annovulatory (I only know this because I was charting), but that may not be the case for you. If it's any consolation I got pregnant with my ds the following month. Maybe test again in a few days if you don't get AF?

I really hope you get your BFP soon.

Hi, sorry about your miscarriage. After my erpc last year it took 5 weeks before I had a period, I usually also have 4 week cycles. It is normal for it to take up to 6 weeks, so your ovulation could quite probably have been delayed this month while your body was recovering from the m/c. The reason for this is that in the first week or so there is still Hcg in your body so until that has gone your body doesn't start up the menstrual cycle again. Unless you have any more convincing symptoms, wait untill 6 weeks have passed to test. I also don't think I ovulated straight after either of my miscarriages, so although it is possible to conceive straight away, don't hold out too much hope for this month, and focus on a concerted effort after you have had a period. Good luck!

I'm really sorry about your mmc.

I had an erpc in Jan, but waited the first month for af before trying again and then got bfp. Unfortunately I mc'd again (natural and very early), but got another bfp exactly 28 days after my mc. I'm now 10+3, had two scans and so far so good!

I've always been lucky to have really regular cycles, spotted that I was ov'ing after erpc and mc at the normal times. Perfectly possible! BUT I've had pmt symptoms before that have perfectly mimicked early preg symptoms, so don't read too much into it yet. The first cycle is the hardest.....

Lily, like others have said, it is possible. I am in a similar position having had an ERPC for a MMC 8 weeks ago. I have been testing positive for a couple of weeks, but am still unsure whether it is a new pregnancy or complications from the MMC. Am waiting for blood test results tomorrow to confirm either way.

The good news for you is that you have already had a negative test result, so you know your body has recovered from the ERPC. If you subsequently test positive you will know it is a new pregnancy!

Good luck to you, I know how hard it is after a MC and how desperately you want to be pregnant again.

Thank you for your comments ladies and congratulations to those who are pregnant again. Good luck with your blood tests Generic!

I was an emotional wreck last night. I have been fine the last few weeks, but my best friend told me she was pregnant at the weekend and it knocked me for six. I am so happy for her, but then it reminds me of what I lost. Jealousy is not the right word to use, but I am sure you all know what I mean.

Kat, I think my cycle might be like yours as I did a test a week after the ERPC and there was a very faint line. I then did a test another week after and there was nothing. Its very unlikely then I will be pregnant this time round as we only DTD 3 times up until last Thursday as I got a nasty case of Thrush, so sex was off bounds for a week.

Part of me wants to be pregnant straight away, but then another part wants to have a period so that I know my body is getting back to normal. Feel so confused all the time! Bloody hormones!! Wish I could just fast forward, i hate the waiting!!

I have found this site so helpful. Speaking to family and friends does not help as they dont understand. xx
