Hi -

Instead Cups, Diva Cups, Moon Cups ..... being used for conception.

ARE they working? Has anyone here had a go? Does anyone know someone whos used them? What do we think? Would you use them? I've bought a box and am trying to decide wether to use them this cycle....or chicken out again, lol. I've got about a week to decide. I'd love to know what MN ladies are thinking - every cycle is precious and i dont want to muck it up.

I cant seem to find a definate sway of opinion on these things - like preseed for eg. Most ladies think its good.

About the cups - some say the swimmers that can swim up will swim up with or with out a cup. Others say trapping them at 'the door' all night will help them swim up there!! i'v got a fear of shutting just as many out as in if i put the cup in wrong Hmm...

Please add your thoughts - i want to maximise my chances but am hesitating with these ....... (i've got the 'Instead's BTW)

Thank you Smile

I use them during my period as I get toxic shock but I've never thought about using them for conception.

I would worry that by having to get up afterwards to put the mooncup in, which generally takes a bit of fiddling about down there would cause the swimmers to fall back out?! It's an interesting idea though, I'll follow this thread with interest!

Thank you ladies x

lol meliesmummy - yep, your right! You'd have to stay on your back to put the darn thing in. And then take it out in the morning. I had a 'go' at putting one in while laying down - and found it ok. Well, fairly easy really considering it was my first go. I then did a bit of housework with it in an and couldnt feel it at all - so sleeping with it in place should be fine.

If you google cups as fertility/conception aids LOADS of links come up. Its like theres lots of ladies doing it, lol, but theres no real statistics about effectivness ... hence me starting this thread....

I've used this method and it's worked for me a good few times, at least 4 or 5. Couldn't say whether it's a coincidence or not but the theory, as you say of "trapping them at the door" was my motivation for trying it. I just have my mooncup handy in the bedroom after sex and put it in whilst lying down.

Sadly, none of those pregnancies have worked out for me so far but I did end up pregnant that many times after using a mooncup.

hello havingkittens

Sorry about your losses - i've read your story on the other thread

Oooooh I'm going to give it a go then!

The thing thats been bothering me is the 'shutting them out' theory, and thats clearly not happened in your case ...
thank you v. much for sharing that Smile

Good luck with the next xx

Thanks Misty0 Yes, I remember you from the other thread too.

I've not noticed an, er, "fallout" after putting it in so I think, working on the same principles of it's designed use where there is no leakage I don't think shutting them out should be too much of a worry.

Good luck to you too! x

Painful? Really? I didn't find it any different to using it for it's original purpose.
