Hello everyone, I have had my first IUI (unexplained infertility, DH with fine sperm...but no lack so far) this week. And just started my 2ww. Is anyone doing it this month too?

And is there anyone out there who can share some success stories of pregnancy with first IUI attempt? I have been told its quite a small chance. The clinic where I have done said 12%...Better than nothing though.

Ooooooh! Good luck! I did the Clomid thing for a year after many, many years of not getting pregnant. It made me progressively madder each cycle. Had one round of IUI and BINGO! I now have three DSs. DS2 was a happy surprise. As was DS3. Somehow I failed to register (twice) that apparently I no longer had fertility issues.

Anecdotally, I sometimes wonder about the stats for IUI as there were several things that made me wonder if the assisted fertility unit at the hospital I was with had logged that my IUI had been successful.

thanks swampster. Its great to hear that it worked for you.

I was thinking of jumping straight to ivf but we thought of giving this a go before the fuss of IVF. I am crossing fingers - although I am also trying not to get too excited and hopeful. Too many unsuccessful cycles...

Congratulations on your three DSs!

IUI was a stop-gap for us while waiting for IVF funding to come through. By the time it did we were no longer eligible for it. It is a fraction of the cost of IVF and comparatively non-invasive.

Hope it works for you.

Hi - pleased to hear a success story, am currently waiting for my first attempt - should have started two cycles ago, but have also been treated for hormone levels so a day 12 ov took me by surprise, thought it was a false reading, waited for line to get darker - it didn't! Then this month, ov'd on day 14, which was slap bang in middle of BH weekend and couldn't get to clinic due to being closed etc.

So.... hoping that we managed it ourselves, but realistically given our years of trying I suspect it will be IUI first attempt in about two weeks time!

Also, pleased to see odds of 12% the letter from my consultant only gave 5-8%! I have heard of a number of success stories, though especially on the first go, so fingers crossed for you oneyeartrying and hopefully I'll be following you!
