Conception

Two days late, don't want to test...

Okay, okay, I know that sounds ridiculous.

Basically, before going on the pill 2 years ago, I had clockwork 28 day cycles. After officially stopping the pill (following a miscarriage) I have had my usual withdrawal bleed, then a 30 day cycle, then a 31 day cycle and am now on day 33 with no sign of my period.

Over two weeks ago I had all the signs of ovulation (ewcm, light cramps and a temp dip - unfortunately I couldn't confirm ovulation on fertility friend as DP informed me I was 'freaking him out' by taking my temperature every morning). In the past week or so I've felt occasional nausea and, the past few days, have been unable to brush my teeth without physically gagging but have had no other real 'signs'.

So, I know that ovulation should be followed by a BFP or a period but at the moment I don't have the latter and I'm scared to find out about the former. I really want a baby, and I'd rather pretend I am than know I'm not, if that makes sense.

Did anyone else have cycles with no rhyme or reason to them after stopping the combined pill?

An ttc #3 and since coming off the pill I've had 28, 27, 29 and 32 really thought I'd done it last month but just a long cycle, now on cycle 6 last 2 pregnancies got bfp on cycle 4!!!

Hope you get an answer soon :)

i came off pill in january, had 27 days cycle both feb and march and now am on day 33. No idea where sodding AF is but bfn on tests. I think if you dont want to test that is fine- either af will come or you'll get to about a week late and want to tests and prob get a more reliable result for it. either youre preg or not and testing every day like a maniac ie me wont change it.
finger crossed for you, and me :)

Hi Tanif
Not ridiculous atall! I am what i think is 2 days late -no sign of AF atall but my cycle was a bit off last month when I actually came on early. I, like you dare not test and would rather not know, prefering that 'maybe I am' feeling. I am tempted to go and get a test today but get in a real state when I think about it.

Perhaps we should both just bite the bullet? :)

Thanks guys, you've made me feel like less of a moron...

dreaming I read about what you're going through on the Jan bus and it must absolutely suck. They don't tell you about this part when you start ttc, it's just a general sense of 'if your period is late, you're pregnant'.

heather I know what you mean, I keep thinking oh I'll just pop out to superdrug at lunchtime and get it over with... but then I think don't be ridiculous, of course I'm not pregnant.

Blah.

Ah, tanif Sorry to hear you are in limbo. So understand why you are putting off testing.

And you aren't a moron at all Grin

So did you go and buy a test on your lunch break? Grin

Nope, still didn't pluck up the courage. I've decided if AF hasn't shown by Saturday morning then it may be worth taking a test. Of course if it's a BFN I'm going to torment myself with thoughts of fertility problems and irregular cycles... Good times.

You have so much more willpower than me!

I already taunt myself with such thoughts. Don't understand why TTC brings out our unreasonable sides Smile

maybe tell me about it. I'm a rational person. My job requires it. So why, when it comes to baby making, am I some kind of unreasonable harpy?

When you find the answer to that one, let me know. Then maybe I can again become rational, patient, positive, level headed.....

DP doesn't understand either. He likes the SWI part, and thinks I should just chill out about the rest. Apparently because his input in the process starts and ends with his orgasm, that I should be as relaxed as him!

Haha, I have heard that one before! Don't know what has gotten into my DH this week, but he is taking a real interest all of a sudden, and generally being very sweet.

Would like to see how they would handle it themselves though, bit of a Freaky Friday moment!

Hi Tanif I've had irregular cycles since coming off the pill. On average I was going from a 30 cycle to 49 days - all over the place. However when I got to 56 days on one cycle I thought it was time to test - and bingo I had a bfp. I know it sounds silly that I didn't test before that but I was convinced that because of my irregular cycles my fertility wasn't good therefore it would never happen. (I sadly mc'd that pregnancy so back to ttc again)

The only signs I had of being prg though were sore boobs and gagging whilst brushing my teeth. But again I didn't make the connection. I will now though!

Hope you get the news your hoping for fingers x'd

Funny you should mention that cracker I've been gagging violently whilst brushing my teeth the past few days. So much so that DP came upstairs last night in concern.

Sorry to hear your news cracker

This is the only time that I am going to say gagging sounds positive tanif!!

On I'd do a test sooner rather than later. I put mine off for so long, then when I finally found out I beat myself up over all the things I would have and wouldn't have done 'IF' I'd have known I was prg. If you are you can celebrate, but stay of the booze and pasturised cheese, but if your not you can have a big glass of wine and hope that next month is your month!

p.s. my AF should be due today, based on the cycle I've hopefully adopted since the mc, but think I may wait a couple more days to see if it arrives..... We're all the same Wink

That should have been 'un-pasteurised'! Duh!

Lol I suppose I'm fortunate in that I don't drink anyway and can't stand cheese... I did have a rare steak for tea last night though Blush Still, I'm sure at this stage it would make very little difference.

Steak has to be rare, it is so good!

I don't think the embryo starts taking anything from you a good few weeks after implatation, so I am sure you will have done no harm Smile

I keep telling DP when/if I am pregnant he is banned from steak. I refuse to eat a piece of overcooked rubber while he tucks into a delicious, bloody treat!

I am exactly the same! I would rather have no meat than overcooked meat! Of course, when I said that, DH said, and I quote 'I'm not turning bloody vegetarian'. Of course, I told him he would if he loved me enough....Smile

Mine seems to think if he goes without meat for a day he'll suddenly start using words like 'fabulous' and losing interest in rugby... Bless him. He's going to get the shock of his life.
