OPK wee sticks

Hey just trying for a second baby. DS is now just over two. When I got pregnant first time, I wasn't trying, it was a one off with my DH during the month, we also used a condom and I was 27.

I was very ill and had to go to the hospital because of pain in my lower back around week five. They tested for pregnacy and it was negative, so they injected me with blue die and did several x-rays. They sent me away the next day with antibiotics for what they thought was some sort of infection.

The next week I was vomiting and went back to the hospital. They did another pregnancy test and I was pregnant. They immediatly did a scan at six weeks to make sure that the baby was not eptopic.

All was fine. And I have a healthy two year old! Thank God!

I am now trying with the wee sticks and it's all very different! We did it every other day in the month and five consecutive days with the last two being positive opk's.

It is now a week sinse the second day of positive opk. I am not feeling any symtoms of pregnancy at all. Which I know is fine for early pregnancy. Last month we tried using a calendar only and I thought I was pregnant, but got a big fat no! lol

Has anyone had any success with opk's? How many days past the first opk positive did you try?

(don't be discouraged if you are using the blue lines, it does look darker eventually!)

Hi Hope, I tried OPK's last month, but only because I got some for free with a BBT thermometer I ordered, but I got so hooked POAS and also started too early, so I ran out a couple of days before I actually got to Ov day, so never even saw a faint line let alone a +tve.

This month I have bought a bumper pack off the internet and intend to start using them in a few days when on CD10 if I can hold out that long. I really hope I get a +tve this month although my temping is indicating that I am still ovulating.

Like you with DD I fell pretty much first time (no temping or OPK's, just general awareness of when I might OV) and I was 37 so I am hoping that means I have still got pretty good fertility even now at 40, but clearly everything I can do to help is a good thing at my age. Especially given SWI isn't as common as maybe it once was thanks to the now 19 month DD keeping us busy/knackered.

So was this your first month of trying? Tbh you'd be extremely lucky if you conceived first cycle!

Sorry meant to add that I read somewhere that even by charting/using OPK's and having sex on the right days there's still only a 25% chance of conceiving. You're just extremely lucky/unlucky (however you choose to interpret) to conceive when you're not trying!

Sort of thirdish! First was just a disapointment at nt being pregnant. Second dh was considering having another one but used no protection and did it on calendar fertile night. Dh later said he hoped i was pregnant. I. Dnt usethe pill we just use condoms. Writing this via mobile! So this time using sticks-! Yes have read the 25 percent statistic! Makes me wonder how we did it on a one off and with a condom! I may order in bulk like you if af shows tomorrow!

I'm now on my 4th cycle of ttc #2, after 2 years the first time! I believe the average conception time is around 6 months. If AF does arrive come and join the December bus next cycle.

Hi, I used these and got pregnant on the third month of using them. To be honest on the last month it was 3/4 days after the first positive result that we managed to try as my husband was ill (typical) but turned out to be the month we got pregnant. I thought we had left it too late but apparantley not. I used the same wee sticks every time just in case it made a difference. I bought them from a website called Pride Angel (www.prideangel.com) they were very reasonable. They also sell multivitamins that are meant to boost fertility (you try anything don't you. My big learn from the whole thing was I thought you had to stick to the day of the result or the day after but for me I didn't. very confusing, sorry! Good luck, stick with it. Dawn xx
