DS is nearly 2.5, fell pregnant with him instantly. Stopped using contraception for #2 last summer and it hasn't happened due to mainly DH being on the otehr side of an ocean for 2 weeks out of 4 the last few months and me burning the candle at every conceiveable end.

My last job has finished so the socialising has calmed down, DH has just one more trip planned in April. Apart from obviously having sex, what should I be doing to get us on the proper ttc bandwagon? What's all this business about charting temps etc?

We have no set routine in terms of my work is all over the place etc so we're not able to have sex every night like we used to before DS (ha!!) so should we be aiming for every other day?

Obviously I should probably cut down on alcohol, caffeine too? Take any supplements aside from folic acid?

I don't want to get all obsessed about it but ought to at least concentrate on a little more!

Oh yay yay yay! Good luck and hope it happens as fast as last time Grin

After ttc #2 for 16 months, and taking folic acid for most of those months, except the ones when I gave up in a strop Blush, I finally got my BFP on the second month of taking the posho pg ones. Probably purely coincidence, but if you're a bit knackered then it can't hurt.

I also gave up drinking for the last few months of ttc, since apparently it can cut your chances in half or something (not that I'd use being pissed as a reliable form of contraception ;)).

Fertilityfriend is your um friend - think it has a beginner's course on charting, which is really useful if your cycles are irregular and you're not sure when you're OVing (and you're too tired to shag all the time Blush). I have a BBT thermometer I would be more than happy to send you - it's secondhand Blush but they can be sterilised. Or they're pretty cheap eg ebay.

Sure there is more helpful stuff but I can't remember any of it now Blush Some of the ladies on my ttc thread swore by a glass of grapefruit juice every day ... will see if I can think of anything else.

Good luck my love x

oh god am going to have to do charying etc aren't I? I just can't be faffed to have sex all the time to make sure and my periods are ridiculously all over the shop.

Might come and join the JS thread though (did a long while ago then it all went totally out of my head as well!)

OK, fertility friend and Just Shagging....

Charting is okay, bit of a faff because you have to take your temp at roughly the same time each day and can't really drink/wake up a lot, but it is strangely addictive, saves a lot of wasted effort Blush and was very reassuring when I wasn't even sure if I was OVing (long if slowly shortening cycles, still nightfeeding to start). Think it only took a couple of months once I nightweaned and started charting, though the former probably has more to do with it.

oh god you have to take temperatures? Ugh....maybe I'll just go back on the pill for a month or two and hope for a fertility spike!

Sorry, yes - charting basically is taking your temp at the same time every day (before you get out of bed or move or do anything). It dips just before you OV and then rises once you have OVed (and stays raised for the whole of your luteal phase and for the whole of your pregancy if that's your month) so is a fairly reliable indicator of when you have OVed, and if you do it for a few months then you should hopefully be able to see a pattern.

I think the pill fertility spike thing was how my cousin ended up with twins Grin
