ttc after depo provera

hi, i was on depo provera for one month and have decided we want ttc now , how long does it take for your body to get back to ovulating , any advice would be great thankyou

When did you come off it? I've heard it takes up to a year for depo users to get back in to a normal cycle. However you only had one injection so it should be less.

i should of had my next shot on 22nd dec and diddn't go back for it , been having pregnancy symptons but negative tests , thanks for replying

So you only had the one? I normally start 'spotting' again if I miss it a month or more. However I've been taking it 6 years (yes I know its bad!) but haven't had it since god knows when....no spotting yet.

yeah i only had one shot , had no spotting or anything

I was on depo for around two years.
Periods started 6 months after the last jab and have been regular since.
I had read a lot of horror stories but fortunately this wasn't the case for me.
I think it can take up to a year for cycles to get back to normal, if it gets to this stage go and see your GP.

It's normal to have pregnancy-type symptoms when coming off depo. I had one shot in March 2010 and also ended up testing in Sept as was confused by nausea, spotting, tiredness, etc.

My periods still aren't back to normal yet, but I'm breastfeeding DC1, which may have something to do with it. Dr said something about taking combined pill for a month or two to kick start fertility. I would certainly ask about this if you are impatient to get pregnant. Not an option for me while bf though.

I was on Depo for around a year and it took 8 months for my periods to come back and they did with exacting regularity a couple of months ago.....I'm not entirely sure I'm ovulating though 3 months in :( but hoping I am.

The pregnancy symptoms before my periods came back were awful though and so draining emotionally so I can sympathise.

SILKEN i was told the same about the pill kickstarting things,i may try it,but im just waiting for blood results from day 2 and day 21 tests to see if i ovulate 1st,so shoukd get them this week...
ive been on depo on 2 separate occasions in 9 yrs,each time for 3 yrs,and it took me exactly 9 mths each time for a normal cycle to resume...but ive now been TTC since the cycle started again 1 year ago,so im having tests to see if i ovulate,as doctor advised e that af doesntnecessarily mean i am ovulating again,so she suggested after testing,if results are that im not,that i go on the oral pill for 2/3 mths to kickstart it....OPK's give me mixed results so hopefully the bloods will be conclusive
mumtoo4 i think if you only had 1 jab you will resume cycle quite quickly,fx anyway

hi it really depends on ur body i was on the depo for a year the first time come off it an was preg within 3 months the first time and was preg b4 my periods started then i went back on the depo after my first child an was on the depo for 5 years i then come off it took 3 months 2 get periods and 9 months to get preg i have now come off the depo after 2 shots 2 try and get preg again my last depo was due 30th nov i had a light period on the 4th till 12th dec but ive had no period since the 12th of dec were now 21st feb so even after 2 shots it can mess ur body round ive had preg symptoms but neg tests i been havin bad cramps for 2 weeks an lastnite nearly lent 2 hospital they were that bad so waiting a week b4 doin test really hope its a pos test i hope this has helped wish there was a time scale on it but every lady is diff its just a case of wait an see :( xx

Well I've had a period over last 4 days so hopefully I'm getting back to normal x

I came off depo in december - jab was due on the 16th and I didn't have it. Am with you on the pregnancy symptoms though - my body's telling me I am but the test saying no(and that's clearly the truth!) - it does make me kwwp getting my hopes up though

ive had a period and used the ovulating strips says i should ovulate with 24 to 48 hours so we shall see what happens xx
