Hello, I have a silly question that I'm sure I should know the answer to but...

anyway, so I have just had DD2 in July, i would like to try to DC3 soon. However my periods have not yet come back after pregnancy. With DS1, my periods didn't come back for 13 months.
my question is can you get pregnant if you don't have your period? I vaguely remember reading that you can ovulate and not have period. Also does breastfeeding inhibit conception. I wanted to continue for as long as poss. Stopped breastfeeding DS1 at 18 mths because I wanted to get pregnant. thanks!

You can ovulate before your period, but you would only do so once. It is ovulation that triggers a period to come a couple of weeks later, so you won't be ovulating regularly while you don't have a period.

Breastfeeding does inhibit conception because it can prevent your hormones returning to normal. It is probably the reason why you are not having periods. It is natures way of giving women a rest between babies.

Not sure what you do about it, but I would imagine you're going to have to hold off trying again until you are ready to cut back or stop breastfeeding.

Thanks slightlyTubby! for the info. I think I am going to hold off I think till DD is 1 year, it's a shame to stop breastfeeding though....maybe if my periods come back then I won't have to!

True, for me my periods came back very early both times even though I was breastfeeding. I was extremely pissed off!
