I want to get the complete Beatrix Potter stories for my 1yo dd to start off a collection of books I think she'll enjoy when she's older. I can find all 23 stories combined into 1 book but ideally I would like 23 little books in a box set. Amazon do it but it's £72 (compared with £18 for the single book!) Does anybody know where I could get it cheaper?

Thanks.

Try The Book People and see if they have it there. They're not a book club, you pay when you order and there's no obligation to buy any more

Sorry just realised its a book club but four books in the first yr doesn't seem too bad

Have been looking for these books for ages, have taken a chance on the book club.
4 books in the 1st year isn't too bad.

i hunted these down for ages on ebay - finally got an as-new set for £25 inc. post iirc and that was when it wasn't christmas, so the book club set looks like a great deal to me

Thanks - will keep an eye on ebay as there are a few on there. Might take the book club offer though - very good value!

I bought the beatrix Potter set from the book club that is linked (BFC) and it's lovely! I loved beatrix potter so much as a child that when I saw the offer on the books I had to get them. I also have the dvd collection of animated stories and dd loves them.

The book club's ok. 4 books is easy enough to buy, but they can try and catch you out every month by sending you the 'editors choice' which is usually a set costing £20.00! You need to log on every month and click the 'no, I don't want it' button on your online account. If they do send you them, ring for a return address label, and photocopy it so that if it happens on more than one occassion, you can just send them back without ringing for the labels.

The books are fab though. We're making our way through them at bedtime just now.

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
