Hi there,
DD, 7, had a Nintendo DS Lite for her birthday and has the following games:
Nintendogz
Disney Friends
Disney Princess Magic Jewels

She would like some additional games for Christmas. Could anyone reccommend any that are cheap-ish and worthwhile buying?
Have heard that Cooking Mama is a good one - opinions please?
Thanks x

My DD is 5 but is very good with a DS. She has the following games on a NDS card (you download games and put them on one card).

Super Mario Bros
Super Monkey Ball
I did it Mum 1 & 2
I did it Mum Picture Book
Lego Indiana Jones
Lego Batman
Mario Kart
Sonic Hedgehog
Wario Ware
Cooking Mama 1 & 2
Strawberry Shortcake
Littlest Petshop
Dora
Yoshi's Island
Donkey Kong

All are appropriate and easily playable.

Don't forget that the downloading of games, etc is illegal! wink

We have an R4 card (you need the new version - 3 I think it is) and abount 300+ games on my hard disk. A friend of mine downloads them from a website. [BLUSH]

For a 7yo dd:

The Imagine games are aimed at this age - Teacher; Baby; Fashion Designer; Rock Band; Wedding Planner; etc.

Cooking Mama 1&2

High School Musical

A lot of the Disney channel programmes have games - Hannah Montana, That's so Raven, Suite Life..

Animal Crossing

Brain Academy (better than Brain Trainign for this age I think)

Tamagotchi Corner 1&2

Princess Lillifee

My Secret World - it is like a secret diary with small mini games and quizzes

Will have to ask 6y DD later

I suppose you could google 'download ds games' but thats all I could suggest. I wouldn't personally know how to do it.

we've a DS R4 card too and it is ace.
Animal Crossing is a favourite in our house along with Harry Potter and Sonic Rush. Mario Kart is also good.
Touchmaster is also good as it has games like draughts and cards

Look up R4 on amazon. Get one with a memory card included, it gets too expensive if you have to get it separately.

Drawn to Life and the Lego games are good for children too.

Ok, here is where I am going to sound totally stupid and untechnical....grin

Right I presume the R4 card is the same size as a ds game with a memory card inside? Yes?

So, say I downloaded games, I presume they would go onto the pc? Yes?

So I have a pc with no bit that would fit the card...so how would I get the games from the pc to the card?

Am I even making sense? (Told you it was stupid!!wink)

I was going to ask the same question too, how do you get the games onto the actual card (shall we be dim together wink)

Glad you don't understand either grin

With the R4 card you get a USB thing into which you put the tiny memory card from the M3 into. You then use this as you wuld any oher memory device - copy across from PC.

You MUST have the DS system files - you can also get this as a download, por ask someone who has them to send them to you.

It's simple once you get the hang of it. It takes about 15 minutes to download, unzipped and onto the microSD card that fits into your R4.

Ah I see, thanks for that, that doesn't sound too complicated.

Would I just download the DS system files from the same place as i would get the games from?

I think i might give it a go!

Thanks all!

I have a card too and stuck a package on it.
I've just sorted it out this morning so haven't decided which games I'm keeping yet but I did enjoy the Sonic one!
I use here and here for downloads.

All my bits arrived, but I still can't seem to find where I would download the system files from, if anyone could point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful! smile

great! did you find somewhere to get the games/music/films from? whats it like?
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By Hulababy on Tue 09-Dec-08 20:31:31
You probably need a torrent site - something like mininova, and you would need to have a program such as bitcomet downloaded onto ypur computer.
Contact the poster See this person's profile Contact mumsnet about this post By Aimsmum on Tue 09-Dec-08 21:06:41
I just posted and it disappeared...weird!

Anyway, what I said was, yes, I used mininova to dowload the games, it was pretty straightforward.

But I then had to do something with rar files that I didn't understand hmm DP took over then. But after that everything transfered over to the memory card really easily and DD thinks it's christmas...she is totally delighted! grin

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]].
