CHicken pox and flying

Ok SO here is my dilemma - DD spent the weekend with her cousin and he came out in chickenpox the following tues. She's therefore very likely to catch it. So the incubation period is 14 days plus. 15 days after being with him (ie next mon) we are due to fly on our first holiday in a long while. DH is driving over with a full car on the previous sat and it's a 3 day journey.

So do I endure the torture that would be a three day drive with a 2 1/2 year old in case she gets it by monday?

Or wait at home and risk losing a week plus of precious holiday time if she does get it?

And if she does - how quickly do the spots spread and how bad do they look?

I know several stories of children playing with each other for hours on a Friday, one of them comes out with CP on Sunday but the other one never gets it -- I wouldn't bet on your DD getting it, either.

If it were me I'd take out travel insurance and still plan on going.

The spots spread slowly ime, and look their worst on day 2 or 3 after they first came out.
