I've done something unbelievably stupid and don't know what to do

I'm so tired at the moment with my new baby and I've accidentally done something so incrediblystupid without thinking

I'm GBS positive (diagnosed during pregnancy) and for the last couple of days I've had terrible diahrea. I was up pretty much all night list night with my 3 week oldwho I think has colic. At some point during the night I remember my bottom being very itchy when I got aquick opportunity to rest a little while DH held the baby and I gave it a quick scratch. Lots of screaming later, DH wasn't able to calm him so he woke me up I and tried to soothe the baby - one of the things I tried (which worked) was to let him suck on my finger for a while.

I only realised afterwards that I hadn't washed my hands.

I am beside myself with worry now. Is there anything I can do? What are the chances I've infected him? Does anyone know the incubation time for GBS infection?

I have no idea, but I think that if your baby seems well in himself, then maybe phone your GP or midwife just for a chat on the phone and see what they think.
But take your baby to see the doctor if he does become unwell.

thanks for your reply paisleyleaf, i did just that and my midwife says i should try not to worry as the breastfeeding will help him fight anything off and if he does become unwell just take him to the doctors
