ds was exposed to chicken pox 10 days ago (spent all day playing with kids who came out in spots that night) and started feeling poorly last night and has been feverish and not well today but no spots. How long do they usually take to come out?

Depends, anywhere between 10-21 days.

Sounds very possible. The first thing I noticed with my DSs were tiny red pinprick type spots. These became pox a day or so later. Have a look at his torso.

Hi Tigger my dd was exposed 2weeks ago, and has had absolutely nothing yet, played with a little boy who had come out on spots the day before, touched his tummy spots and were cuddling etc, I was told its an airborn thing and afaik he didn't cough/sneeze while he was here, Maybe my dd is going to miss out, awful as it sounds I would rather she get them now than when she starts school nursery in september!!

two weeks is average for the spots, but it can be 3 weeks plus. it is airborne but can be as little as being in the same room for somethinglike 20 mins, or transferred via mintue drops of saliva when talking etc.

tigger, does your DS have spots today? my dd got just 4 spots the day after feeling rough/high temp, then they multiplied from there!

good luck!
