Why would DC2 be vomiting fairly quickly after being given neurofen?

has happened this evening for the 3rd time in as many weeks. coincidence? she has a fairly bad cough so is that triggering the vomiting (she's just turned 12 months btw).

any ideas?

I don't have any experience, and know more folks iwll be along to answer, but I know that nurofen isn't advised for peops with stomach problems, and that it has to be taken after food sometimes? this might indicate that yes, it might be the nurofen?

Is DD normally ok with neurofen?

Ds used to do this with Calpol - he just did not like the flavour and would vomit the medicine up every time he was given a spoonful! Hospital doctor recommended using a dosing syringe rather than spoon to just give small amounts of the dose at a time with possibly a sip of a drink in between. He also recommended disprol as that was banana flavour! Must admit it worked

Has she got an upset tummy? If so neurofen will make it worse IME. Otherwise may well just be the cough causing the vomit.

The main problem with brufen is that it can cause gastritis (irritable to stomach lining) and it is not advisable to give it on an empty stomach as this can exacerbate the problem. Usually children complain of abdominal pain rather than actually vomiting so it may be she just cant tolerate the taste-maybe as cuppa suggested try a different brand and if it still happens then leave it for 6 months or so then retry and she may have overcome the problem.

thanks for all responses.
she's teething horribly at the moment and not eating much though last night i did give it to her after she'd had some yoghurt and fruit.
i give it to her with the syringe in small doses but she's getting good at spitting it out so not sure she even got a full dose last night.

i've just given her some more and so far all fine so i'm putting it down to the cough - any ideas what will help that?

She's sounding like she's on Marlboro Lights already and i've no idea what might soothe it??
