12 month old associates food wi h being sick and won't eat anything.

Hi

Wonder if anyone can offer any advice? My 12 month old has had a cough/runny nose/some diarrhea for the last 5 days (been to docs and they couldn't find anything). He keeps coughing and gagging on food and being sick ( not sick unless eating usually except for projectile vomit when I gave him Calpol last night!) and this has caused him to not want food at all.
He is surviving on 2 bottles of milk, water and a handful of blueberries a day at the moment.
He seems to associate the highchair and food with being sick and starts coughing as soon as you put him in the chair. I have tried purees/yogurts etc but he won't eat anything. Has this happened to anyone else? Did their DC get over it when cough went?

Has never happened to mine, so advice I'm about to give, you've either already thought of, or can ignore with no offence taken

Can you feed him somewhere other than high chair for a while?

Have you tried dry foods? May be more palatable for him.

He may still feel a bit rough. I'm scared of being sick and remember as a child, I'd fast for about 4 days after being sick, just in case (from about age 4 so bit older than yours)

Last one, don't panic! He'll pick up on any anxiety, he'll be fine just having milk for a day or two. So keep calm and offer him food but don't force it.

i would just offer him finger food and if he doesn't want it then don't push it

give more milk if he'll take it

Thanks for ideas. Dry food seems to be the worst thing as it makes him cough then gag. Managed to get a few spoonfuls of yoghurt in him and a couple of small pieces of mashed banana on bread so am not so worried. He won't drink much milk though (only had morning bottle today) he has gone right off milk in last month or so. I have my suspicions that it might be related to teething as I can feel a molar under the gum and he has always really suffered with teething.
