Worried about newborn catching siblings illnesses

I am worried about so much right now and starting another thread about another problem.

My baby is five weeks, first i got mastitus quite soon after birth, had antibotics, i am bf so poor baby got a bad tummy and thrush in her mouth, then older dd got a fever and i worried about baby getting it, dd 2 then had a terrible cold and its hard to stop them touching baby.

now dd2 has a terrible fever - i feel so stressed about baby getting it. i feel so awful on dd2 and want to just hold her and comfort her but my newborn cries if not held and i'm worried about her getting to close to sick siblings. this is just all too much for me.

it feels like my kids are catching everything going right now.

what would happen if a newborn got a temp?

YOu poor thing.

Try not to worry too much. When DD was a newborn we had the moat awful virus going around and DH was helping me after a traumatic birth so there was no option for him but to come into contact and she didn't get it.

Try and keep as little contact between siblings as possible and lots of hand washing, and do you have an oil burner? Tea tree oil really clears the air of infections, I know they do this in some wards to stop virus' passing.

If she does fall ill at such a young age I think you just have to go to A&E like you would normally with a newborn. Good luck hope you feel better soon.

Hi devotion, I know what you're on about, I had DD1 off nursery for the first two months when the DD2 was born. I still ask her to clean her hands all the time - we have bottles with hand hel everywhere so maybe it's worth you doing the same? I really feel for you, we are so very stressed after birth, it's hormonal, try and take deep breaths whenever you can and avoid caffeine - red bush tea is naturally caffeine free and doesn't taste too bad. Good luck to you and your kids.

new borns are quite resilient so try not to worry, the day after ds2 was born dd came down with rotavirus, then ds1 1 week later it was awful! Baby got it but only mildly and he was bottle fed from birth! But that experience led to me getting health anxiety and awful pnd so look after yourself x
