Hearing loss after flu-like illness

Dd1 has had a nasty virus - a very high temperature for about 5 days, controllable with calpol and ibuprofen. It was possibly swine flu but not confirmed.

She has recovered more or less but her hearing is now pretty poor. Is this usual? What should I do/ expect? I have made an appointment with the GP and we have a referal for a hearing test due to a previous concern about her hearing.

However it is much worse after this infection.

Does anyone have any experience of this? I'm very worried about her.
Thank you in advance

DD lost her hearing for about five days after having flu - it was apparently a build up of wax and we know this because on the fifth day it mobilised and trickled out (yuck!) whenever she coughed

Could be glue ear too. Especially if it comes and goes regularly. The audiologist will test for this
