you can get treatment that you drink from the chemist. They can be passed from other kids, I presume from toilets. yeuch I know.

Everybody gets worms - like nits. tis a parental right of passage to discover a new parasite on your child..

Congratulations.

get some stuff from the chemist and treat the whole family. Cut nails. Change bedding. Sorted.

Its very very common. Treat the whole family use separate towels, change bedding.

Don't stress.

Thankyou guys i just feel so embaressed and guilty. Hes been complaining about an itchy bottom for a while now i have kept checking as i know they dont always wipe their bottoms properly at this age so assumed it was that as i didn't see anything else until tonight. Should i keep him off school tommarrow until he's treated? Should i disinfect all thewir toys? I haven't got any symptoms myself and am not brave enough to look

No need to keep him off school, they would never have any kids there is you kept kids with threadworms off!!!

The itching is worse at night.

Poor dd built up a resistance to pripsen, the doctor was quite worried that she got them so many times in such a short time so I do sympathise, so she had to have something else to treatthem which is stronger.

Apparently around 50% of 10 year olds will have had worms at some point or other.
DD has had them a few times - the owrdy when she was 2 and SCREAMED the place down 2 nights in a row on holiday until we managed to get to her to a English speaking pharmacist and doc who worked out what was going on. The medicine works very quickly and will help the itching within 24 hours.

Make sure that you give the second dose two weeks later though, we think that by not doing that with dd the first time (we forgot) was one of the reasons it kept re-occuring.
