Hi
Anyone know what I can try to feed a vomiting, pooey 10 month old? He's just got over an ear infection which meant he had only milk for about a week. On Sunday he was sick several times which was followed up with diarrhoea. We saw a doctor yesterday and have been using dioralyte but now baby has gone off this. He has a bit of an appetite but I'm running out of ideas which will be gentle on his stomach. The doctor advised to feed him whatever he will eat. But at the moment that's organix carrot stix.
Anyone?
(Have tried rusks, small pieces of cooked carrot, fruit puree.)

When my DD was sick at about that age, I gave her some quite plain broth type veggie soup, some quite plain porridge and some soft cooked rice.
The most important thing is to keep his liquids up, so soup etc is good.

Thanks for that. Will try soup again. He's had some puree this morning so hopefully he'll pick up. Poor little thing.

If he's had an upset stomach then dairy's not a good idea sometimes as it can irritate the stomach and liquid is the most important thing.

They used to advise something called a BRAT diet (banana, rice, apples, toast I think), the idea being that plain, white foods wouldn't upset the stomach and a lot of people do still stick this. However, medical opinion is that you don't need to restrict the diet after a tummy bug (except for being careful with dairy which you can have a mild intolerance to post gastro bugs) and to offer whatever they seem to want and can keep down.

DD used to like soup post-illness. I guess it was easy and provided a lot of fluid too.

Horrid when they're ill isn't it?
