Hi,

I have a question, about giving tummy times to my baby. I never put my baby on her tummy because of her reflux and I'm scared she's going to have hard time flipping her body.

Any suggestions.

Thank You

Hi Natheen, do not worry too much about it, she will be able to flip her body without getting lots of tummy time. As an alternative, you can lay her on your chest, with you sitting slightly laid back to enourage her to lift her head up to look at you. This way should not affect her reflux. My little boy did not have alot of tummy time and he learned to roll over no problems. Every baby is different and develop at different rates so don't worry if she doesn't start to roll over when books say she is supposed to! Good luck!

My DS hated tummy time. Was late to roll - could do it at 4mo but then never really did it until 8mo - but hasn't affected him now he's 22mo and spends most of his time rolling around on the carpet or our bed

My ds didnt have much tummy time before about 3 months because erm I kept forgetting

he rolled at 5 months, crawled at 7 and walked at 10.

tummy time is important as it strengthens the muscles that are eventually used for crawling - and it's a different viewpoint than being on their back all day long. they don't have to know how to roll over to be on their tummies, just stay beside the baby when they are on their tummy

It is good for crawling but not essential - I couldn't keep DS on tummy for more than a minute or two without screaming (and he wasn't a screaming sort of baby so he clearly hated this) and although he didn't crawl until 11mo he was then a super-fast crawler. So your DD may be a little behind other babies but may well not affect her in the end.

ds1 never had tummy time as he hated it and just liked standing up. he crawled for about 2 weeks when he was 9 months old then went straight onto walking

using a sling to carry your baby helps them develop muscle strength as well

As my mother says - babies should wear a badge saying "This grows up automatically"!

Don't worry about it, she'll roll and crawl and everything when she's ready, tummy time or not.

Again, my dd hated being on her tummy and was quite late to roll and crawl and late to walk. But she did it all ind the end, and she sat up from about 4.5 months - don't worry about it.

My DD also had reflux and hated being on her tummy. She is now 21 months, runs every where, rolls around on the floor and gets up to every kind of mischief possible . So as others have said, don't worry about it.

I'd never heard of tummy time and my DD crawled at 6 months. Stop worrying about it

Thanks for comforting words. I won't stress too much about tummy time and let my baby grow on her own.
