Incontinence Support Group???

Does anyone know of an incontinence support group I could contact for some advice about my four year old daughter?

We've just been for results of scans, x-rays etc to see if any kidney damage had occured after UTI. Fortunately no damage was done, but the constant weeing and battles to go to the toilet are taking their toll on all of us and circumstances are becoming very difficult to manage. I had to keep her off nursery for 3 days last week because her bottom was so sore from urine burns, despite the constant application of Metanium.

We feel very on our own with this and don't feel that we have been given much support from the hospital. The consultant seems to think it's very normal but her nursery and childminder don't agree. We have to go back in four months for another test but aren't sure how to manage until then.

We could really do with some advice and support because we don't know if we're doing the right or wrong thing.

If anyone has any ideas or has been through any similar experiences, please could you give us a hand.

Thanks so much.

i would contact your HV and see if they can advise.

Many areas ,health trust have a continence service.

It may also be worth checking with your local childrens centre.

Incidentally I dont know if your little one is in pants or nappies/pull ups but in most local areas over the age of 4 children with continence problems are entitled to free nappies/continence aids.

Thanks Mavis. Our HV is a chocolate tea cup! I've already contacted her a number of times and she just never gets back to me.Still waiting for her to get me waterproof tape for my younger daughters hip cast which was put on and requested in July 09! DD wears pants during the day as it feels such a backwards step to put her back in pullups. She always comes home from nursery with very wet pants though. I'll maybe ask the doctor about a prescription for pullups. Thanks.
