Help - can't work out if DS has chicken pox???

DS had a broken nights sleep on Tuesday, started getting spots on his back and behind his legs on Wednesday afternoon. Had another restless night on Wednesday night and on Thursday morning (yesterday) noticed more spots appearing on his back and tummy and legs (mainly on the back of his legs). I called the doctor and they said it sounded like chicken pox (and after reading on the internet, it sounded like Chicken pox to me too). He slept through most of last night, but we only managed to get him to bed at 9.30pm after much screaming and clingyness!

However today (Friday) his spots still look the same, not many of them have watery stuff in them at all - if anything it looks more like an allergy rash. It is worse on his back, he has no rashes on his face or head or scalp. He has a bit of a dry cough (which apparently is associated with Chicken Pox).

So I took him over to the doc today, and she has actually had a look at him rather than trying to diagnose it over the phone, and she suspects that it IS NOT chicken pox, and could potentially be mulluscom contagiosum...

I have now read up on this on the internet.... and I really don't think that it is this either!

DS doesn't have a temperature, and is generally well in himself. Eating like a horse as per usual...

The doc has told me to see how he gets on for the weekend. Has anyone else had this where you are just not sure if it is Chicken Pox and it if is something else?!?!?

From a very worried Mum!
(ps - sorry about the long post!)
(pps - I have taken photos if anyone wants to see what they look like. I will try post them to my profile)

How's he doing? I think you'll just have to wait and see.
It does look like early CP spots in the pix, but if he's several days in to it, they should be much darker and angrier looking by now (ime of 4 dc with CP).
