My 16 month old DD has had the runs for over a week now (8 days to be precise), she has been vomiting. Took her to the Dr and he said as long as she is drinking then she's OK. Gave me some dioralyte for her and we came home.
She's drinking and eating, vomiting stopped on Thursday but has started again today. Am now at my wits end!!
My older daughter (3) has caught it now too
They have done a stool sample but it showed nothing (although the results for the rotovirus test aren't back yet)......anyone got any bright ideas to help sort this out.

My HV just said....keep cleaning it up and wait for it to stop.

Noooooo your HV is barking. First of all, remove all dairy products and give her plain fluids (sad to say but flat lemonade is best - don't worry about the sugar, it's necessary). Remove all solid food from her diet and just stick to the lemonade for at least 12 hours, preferably 24. Do the same with your older daughter too.

This will give her stomach and bowel a rest and chance to recover. It's very common to have repeat D&V if you go straight back to eating and drinking too soon - dairy products in particular can irritate the stomach which loses part of it's protective lining during D&V episodes so it's best to avoid them for a few days and if you do stick to plain fluids, my bet is within 24 hours it will cure itself.

D&V has just finished but DD2 is still unable to tolerate dairy and has had to have lactose free milk prescribed by HV as won;t sleep without her bottle at night!!!
DH has just got over the D&V and now we all have a cold....it never ends!
