Accident prone 5yo, Glasses causing GREAT problems! Any Similar Stories?

My son has worn glasses for the past 18mths and the last two pairs have cut his face following a collision/fall.

The first pair have left a scar and that was a simple head bump with another child.
How can it be possible for a pair of glasses to cause so much damage?
I have spoken to the shop and they are having words with the directors and I am going in tomo with the incident reports and photos.
Does any one have a similar experiance or have a safer "supplier" we could try. I would like my boy to grow up as scar free as possible, especially on his face!

The latest one has given him a black eye and makes Hatton look good!
