You may have read my post yesterday about DS1 (4) he has an infection under his foreskin, we have been given some Canisten which will hopefully help but were finding it hard to manage, DS is weeing a tiny dribble almost constantly ans he is finding hard to hold it in time to get to the toilet, he has been toilet trained since he was 2 and never has acidents now! He is screaming in apin when he wees, is there anything i can do to help it be less painfull and anything i can do to stop him dribbling? If he hadn'been toilet trained so long ago i would be tempted to put a nappy on him, he is trying to rest but has to constantly run for the toilet and is getting upset when he can't make it. I have given calpol for tempriture and he is already ona ton of antibiotics so the dr can't give anymore of them to help it heal quicker. Help!

Oh it is awful we have had bouts of this too, I can't bear it when it is so painful for him to pee. I don't have anything useful to offer, we had to resort to antibiotics and then it cleared up, but doc said we may need a referral. I know you've had this. Your poor ds.

Dribbling and inability to hold on sounds more like urine infection than infected foreskin. Does his antibiotic need changed? Has he had a urine sample sent recently?

Well i thought it was water works infection but the GP said by the way DS is really flinching and not letting anyone touch it, (not even himself) suggests that it actually under the foreskin rather that a UTI.

He has a history of ballonitus and will eventually be curcumsised because of it, he foreskin is really tight almost no opening so the GP said bacteria gets trapped really easily.

I was told to make him drink loads which i am doing but he now fears weeing as it stings te end of his penis so he is holding it in or only doing a tiny bit at a time before jumping up in pain. His antibiotics are because he has Cystic Fibrosis so he has 4 different antibiotics daily hence why the gp can't give him anymore especially without consulting the CF team at our local hospital.

No urine sample sent recently. The cream is really hard to apply though becuase he doesn't like it being touched!

If it is a bacterial infection then canesten is not the correct cream (fungal) - fucidin may be better.

Maybe put him back in pullup toddler pants till he is over this?

Agree drink loads but sounds as though urine sample should be sent. Is UTI the cause of his temperature? Foreskin infection should not cause that.

I would take him back to GP

Im not 100% sure he has got a temp he just felt very hot and he was in pain with his bits so i gave him a half dose of Calpol which seems to have cooled him down.

I think i might put him back in Pull ups untill he is over it.

I will have to contact out of hours gp to see if i can get a urine sample done and possibly some other cream or something.

Why does it have to happen on a bank holiday?!

Just a suggestion but maybe let him wee in the bath so it doesn't sting so often. It helps after episiotomies so worht a go. Run a shallow bath for him to wee in every hour or so so he empties his bladder and doesn't hold it in cos if he holds it in then he is more likely to get a urine infection (that might be what has already happened).

I agree he needs to be checked again. But in the meantime give him LOADS OF CRANBERRY JUICE. Avoid orange juice and fizzy drinks, they make the symptoms worse.

HTH
