how reliable is the sweat test for CF?

if anyone has read any of my other threads about my 5 month ds2, im sorry if i bore you again but saw paed today as ds2 has various probs

and today paed has agreed to do sweat test for CF as ds2 has some signs but prob doesnt have it. Just want to check that it is reliable? There isnt anyway he could get a negative result if he was positive?

sweat tests are often equivocal (meaning there wasn't enough sweat or that the results were borderline), however this is more often the case in tiny babies

However, if by the chloride readings, it is very low then it is extremely unlikely to be a false negative and vice versa for a definite high reading.

Did that make sense?

Glad they are going to do the test for you mad4. Hope it's a good result. I'm a bit at the paed's comments - you would think she would think to ask you the relevant questions rather than berate you for not volunteering the information.
