Does anyone else's baby have red itchy eyes, a dry cough and dry skin / eczema patches?

Ds2 is 6 months next week and has had the above symptoms for the last few days.

His skin has always been dry but it's about as bad as it's ever been now.

The skin around his eyes is red but his actual eyes and the tissue inside seem normal. They seem a bit itchy but not horrendously so.

The cough is intermittent, not too bad, but noticeable.

I use aqueous cream on him morning and night, or Aveeno if he seems particularly bad. He is bathed every other day or so.

I haven't given him anything for the cough / eyes.

Any ideas on the cause of this, or do you think the symptoms are probably unrelated?

Hayfever and eczema do run in DH's family, while asthma runs in mine, and DS1 is also asthmatic, though no eczema or hayfever.

Hi,
It could well be an allergic reaction like hayfever, esp this time of year. My ds is 5 and has had red, sticky eyes and a dry cough for a couple of weeks and I took him to gp who told me that's what it was and I get hayfever in my eyes too, so it could well be that.
I would suggest you def get it checked by gp though with ds being so little as not worth neglecting anything to do with eyes.
Good luck.

I did think about hayfever - that's interesting aobut your DS having a dry cough as I haven't heard that symptom before.

His eyes are clear, not sticky or watery, just the skin around them is red and they seem a bit itchier than usual - hard to tell as he rubs his eyes a lot when he's tired anyway.

Thanks

I'm just assuming the dry cough is part and parcel of it as it came at the same time and he's not really troubled by it, more just an irritation. My dad coughs a lot with his hayfever, esp with the running nose being there too. Hope your ds feels better again soon.
