how can i help my 5 month olds cough??

ok so i know there are no cough medicines and have tried calpol but how can i help him? I think its chesty? A sort of squeak type noise when he breaths out? GP today just said viral!!!

Steam - run the bath and make the bathroom all steamy then take him in for 10 minutes or so.

can you give glycerine to a baby that young? I know it's a good alternative to honey (and that you can't give that)

what is it? All the tixylix are over aged 1.. Hes coughing loads. The reason i took him is because his older brother has a chest infection at the mo..

glycerine - it's a syrupy clear liquid that's used in skincare/soap/food products. You can get it from chemist (v cheap) I use it mixed with lemon juice for coughs. You should check with the pharmacist that it's ok though. HTH
