I'm sure there is nothing you can say to make me feel worse than I already do. All I know is I shall never rely on thinking that my husband is awake enough to stop this happening when I go out of the room. Anyway, he fortunately landed on a pillow cried (not very much) for about 20 seconds and then began reaching for his toys. I can see no marks on his head and he is behaving normally, now playing with his toys and happy. What would you do? Would you take him to the doctor just in case? Thank you

MC my DD fell off the bed twice at that age, It only took a second for me to take my eyes off her, she cried for all of 30 seconds but was happy to crawl for her toys that were nearby.
My DD still falls out of her bed now, lets out a little cry, I put her back to bed still asleep LOL.
Your DS will be fine, esp as he landed on a pillow.

If he seems fine and is acting normally I would not worry.

My 8 month old fell out of ours yesterday and landed on a pillow I think! He was upstairs alone asleep surrounded by pillows and had a bit a rude awakening as he was asleep when he fell. He seemed ok. Won't be leaving him asleep on our bed again though!

It happens, please don't beat yourself up. If he has no marks and seems fine I'd not worry with the doctor. More likely the cry was from the shock of falling.

My 8 month old fell down the stairs once and landed on hard parquet flooring. Oh the guilt! He cried for about 15 minutes, but then started to play normally. Both my DSs have fallen out of bed at various ages, usually staying fast asleep and being discovered by horrified parents curled up on the floor in the morning...

Sounds like it wasn't a very seriously fall in your case so if you don't notice any changes in his behaviour I wouldn't worry about the docs. Older babies seem to made of rubber! And once they start cruising they fall over all the time on the ground, hard bathroom floors and everything in between, so it will happen again. And again. Nothing to worry about.

no problem MC - my DD is 4 and still does it - sat night I heard her cry out and she was clinging on for dear life on the side of her bed!

My 23mo has fallen off the bed three times. The first and second time I took her to A&E, but in fairness she was little, and had only just learnt to roll. The last time she did it in the middle of the night, probably about 6 months ago, she cried for a bit but was fine.
