What kind of eye drops are they? Are they chloramphenicol? If so (and they've been kept in the fridge since you bought them) then I'd say yes.

Probably not tbh. Does it not have any advice on use by date on the bottle?

In that case I would use them, but if it's not showing marked signs of improvement after 24 hours then stop using it. I was taking that stuff for a week and wondering why my conjunctivitis wasn't getting better until the doc told me it probably meant it was a viral conjunctivitis.

How old is your dd?

I would take her to the docs to be honest. They say not to mix eye medicines between different people due to cross contamination issues, and in fact when my DS1 was tiny and had a really bad dose of conjuntivitis he had two lots of it so it was separate stuff going into each eye.

but theoretically it should be good for 28 days.

she is 6 and she most likely has the same conjunctivitis ds had last week, i have used them on her as i cant get to the chemist till tomorrow afternoon, where i will get the pleasure of paying my 3rd £4 for a bottle of the same drops ds and dp has.

Now should she go to school tomorrow?

It probably is the same bug that caused your ds's conjunctivitis.. it's so catching. The chloramphenicol is also available to buy over the counter as Optrex Infected Eyes, not sure if it's cheaper than px or not though. Just be very careful about not letting the dropper get anywhere near her eyes as LackaDaisycal said. Don't want to cross infect.

I'd be quite tempted to keep her home, unless child care was a total nightmare. It's so easily spread (as you've found out)

Are these elligible meds on the minor ailments scheme? If so, a consult with the pharmacist, sign the form and you won't need to pay for them

they are elligible on minor ailments but i had to pay for ds's cos the computer system was down, do you not have to be registered at one chemist for it, dd is registered at a chemist miles away and that years ago

I'm sure you could probably re-register if you have moved house. I wasn't sure about it being with just the one chemist though; I'd assumed you could register at more than one, not that I've tried it though!
