Ds has got an abnormal vascular nevus on his face which grows lots of heamangiomas of it
we have an appointment with specialist to discus possible laser treatment or surgery.
Just wanted any experience on laser as he had had surgery on it twice but each time is leaving scarring didn't know if laser treatment left any scarring.

My colleagues son has a very large port wine stain on his face and has been having laser treatments for the last 10 years on it at GOSH. He doesn't have any scarring from it.

If you have any questions, I can pass them through

how often does he have to go and is it done under general.
It is very like a port wine stain apart from its not as dark but gets worse if he's hot or unwell.
Thanks

He normally goes every 4-6 months, and has it under general - he's 15 and doesn't want to try local yet !

Well, her DS's is very large, and they have said that he will always need treatment - so your DS may not need so much

About the same size then - A's is on his forehead, nose and one cheek.

I think I remember colleague saying that it was all to do with the depth of the blood vessels as to how effective the laser was - so I wasn't sure how the two compared

It has made a huge difference to the colour of the portwine - it's really not terribly noticable, especially as he uses Clinique city block to protect it from the sun and conceal a little. He was having more laser yesterday

Ds covers his left side of his face it goes over his left eye and slightly into his hair line above his left ear.
we have only recently had it diagnosed by an mri scan and the results said it doesn't go deep and it isn't effecting his brian but it could cause that side of his face to grow outwards
